I purchased one and I really like it. However, I've been really bad about not keeping it up-to-date. The nice thing is it has all the fields you need to record your smoking experience and a place to paste your cigar bands with each entry.

I've used both. I prefer the freestyle of the blank journal. Sometimes I have more to say than the little boxes in the Dossier allow. But if you just want the bands with a few specifics, a rating, and slightly more space than a fortune cookie's paper to say "I liked this one", then maybe the Dossier is for you.

I've got many dossier's from my early smoking days and occassionally I'll still put my thoughts into one. Lately, I've been buying hard bound journals from Barnes & Noble. In there I paste the band on the page and just write a few thoughts that come to mind.

I'm too lazy to take notes. I had been dropping the bands into one of two baggies (liked it / didn't like it) but got lax in that as well and just combined them all into one. I suck! And you guys suck too for being so organized!
(Just kidding ... still friends?)

Cigars International has a template you can download for free. I used a three ring binder to make my own. There is one here on the site called the Independent Rating System? or something like that. The link is on the podcast area.It is pretty cool you can modify it to make a template also. I have heard that there is a software download available on the Stogie Fresh Five website but I have not checked it out for myself yet.

I don't need a brand name or store bought cigar dossier. I just bought a spiral notebook. Sure it may not look as cool as the real ones, but I just glue the band of every new cigar I smoke and list what it was, and then rate it out of 100. It works great for me and it's a great source for me to remember what I have smoked as well as what I like and dislike.
