Xicar states that only the Xi 2 is assembled in Germany. There was period where some Xi2's were assembled in China. Currently all their Xi 2's are now assembled in Germany. The Xi 1& 3 are assembled in China
All their current cutters have the same blades, regardless of the price difference. All the blades are made in Taiwan.... Go figure. This from Xicar just some useless info i just bought a Xi2 from Ebay for 35.00 and love it

hmmmm, thats good to know...my first Xi1 had german blades, and had a ring when it opened, like the sound of a sword being pulled out of a scabbard. the replacement doesnt make that sound

my xikar started to have a snag every time i went to cut, like i would feel resistance on the right blade, but i just tightened it down at the bottom and cuts like new
