I have some from about 4 years ago and they have mellowed very nicely. They actually improved with age! Originally, they were my yard-gar, but now I have them while relaxing in the afternoon. I am almost out of these and will have to pick up more and let them sit.

Coolj it seems they are just a long filler version with higher grade leaves. They are actually on clearance as of now so they are pretty affordable. more info here http://www.cigarsinternational.com/p...m=CS-VOA&cat=3

Funny. The original La Vieja's I thought were a nice, very affordable smoke. But the most recent version(s) to me have tasted like La Vieja Calcetín (sock).

Not for me. But, hey, who the hell am I really. If you love em, smoke 'em!

I liked the old version of these, but they have since raised the price on them.. and I don't care for the newer ones.. But I am not sure if anything is different. A while back, probably over a year and a half ago, famous was running a special on the older LVH's, at $17/box. I bought a few boxes then. I am out now. I might have to give these a go again.

There are more than one line of LVH, "the Leather Patch Series" (the ones I sent to cooljcadet), "the early years" (my Zero Hora faves belong iin this) and what you are refering to is the std line which comes in 4 wrappers I believe. there may be others? :teacher:

Right, I know there are different lines. I am referring to the standard line. The last time I bought them, was before they were re-formulated. At that time, there was only one wrapper, and a few different sizes available. Now they've got 4 different wrappers, lots of different sizes, and they cost quite a bit more money

well, i just wanted to let you guys, and greysmoke especially, know that i finally got the time to smoke the Leather patches, and they are amazing! definately a better, more defined version of the smoke. Not as harsh and with a little bit more of a leathery (go figeure) and mocha-ish tone. burned great. amazing! thanks again man, and dont think i have forgotten this!

Everyones tastes are different, but I like the Cameroon LVH's. Just gave one to a buddy with similar tastes and he liked it as well. Reasonably priced nice construction and so far all of them have been quite tasty.

hehe, I've only tried one and I couldn't even get past the first 1/4 of it. It was so bad I had to toss it... But as you mentioned, it was a recent release of it... So I guess I need to revisit this brand and give it at least one more try and hope for a better result... :arghhhh:
