I held the lighter upside down and hit it with WD40. It works great now. My first torch I ever bought was a single flame Colibri about 10 years ago and it still works fine.

I just bought a Perdomo logo Vector table top from the Devil site and it seems very nice and lights on the first click. I have always used either Colibri or Vector fuel.
Haha. I've got the Perdomo table lighter and my only complaint is that it never lights on the first click. Doesn't bother me much cause otherwise I love that thing.

I called Colibri today about my lighter. They said I had to send it to them with a check for $7.50 for s/h. Then they would check it out and call me with a quote for repair. That was it and that doesn't cut it for me.

I do have another Colibri that is kind of a "sport" model. High altitude friendly, etc. This one seems to work good and after 1.5 years and is very wind resistant. The only problem with it is that it heats the ignition button up, so unless I get a quick light on my cigar, I get the crap burned out of my thumb.

Hopefully this "new" guy at Colibri will clean things up, but it been 10 months already? I guess I could give him the benefit of the doubt, since mine are both 1.5 and 2.5 years old. But I'm not willing to drop another $30-$40 just to find out if they are any better.

Get a Solo, or even a Wal-mart Ronson

Solo lighters are dependable and they have lifetime warranties, I love mine its quite hot though i have to hold it like almost 2 inches away not too burn my cigar to hot. I did buy a cheap walmart Ronson, and its quite dependable also. My Ronson is more dependable than my buddies colibri, thats for sure.

Wife got me one from the B/M on Fort Belvoir about 4 years ago and the thing worked sporadically at best. Eventually got pissed at it never working when I wanted it to and it has been in a Colibri addressed envelope since. Wish she would have saved the money or bought some smokes instead. Love my 3 dollar Ronson. Drop that sucker in the garage all the time and it fires up consistently. Lesson learned.

Bought an expensive Colibri many years ago when I was smoking pipes, and it lasted 10 months. They have a very long history of selling junk to overcome. Have had a Corona Old Boy so long don't remember when I bought it, but it lights first strike every time, and keeps on going.

What timing. My Colibri just bit-the-dust. It was a cheapie from eBay and it lasted about a year and a half. I never had a problem with it by purging and refilling. But now, it just won't light consistently and no amount of purging and cleaning fixes it. I just ordered a Solo from Mark at Cigarmony.

My brother bought me one for christmas this year and it is already falling apart. The screws in the casing fell out. Not to big of a deal but i have only had the thing for a couple of months. And after all that I am reading now I am just waiting for the thing to stop working. It will probably be a while until I buy another one, if I even do.

I'm not defending Colibri it just seems they are hit or miss, I have one thats 3 years old its one of the cheaper ones, works great all the time have never had a problem. I also have a few that didn't last a month. Its not worth the money for the risk though I'm stickin with my Xikar

Colibri = J.U.N.K.

Their big change...they are now made in China rather then in Japan.

Xikar, Blazer and FierBirds...I know FireBirds are made by Colibri, but they seem to hold up better.

FYI: NAPA has in their catalog a single flame butane lighter that works great, and holds up very well. Big see thorugh fuel tank, and an easy to use hight adjuster.
You have to go to a NAPA store and ask about them. You can't find them on line. I got my two on sale, but I think the regular price is like $17.99 or so.
