Club Montecristo

They just added one at PNC Park in Pittsburgh.

I am from Pittsburgh and I was just wondering if anyone knew what it was like.

First off, do you need to be a member to get in? Second, do they let people under 21 in?

It looks awesome and I am def going to check it out next time I go to a Pirate game.

Frank,
I'm from the 'Burgh too. Actually right above PNC Park. A buddy of mine was in Club Monte on opening day. He said they give you a cigar when you walk in and it is extremely cool. I will probably go soon. I am sure it is affiliated with the club boxes but I can find out more for you on Monday. Also they have cigar nights at PNC Park too. Poor Richard's in station square sponsors them but I am sure the Buccos ticket office will give you info.

Cigar Aficionado's website has an article on this cigar bar:

Sounds nice....

From PGH too...I say we organize a mini-herf. Group tickets are reasonable (kind of - around 70 for seat + one "premium" cigar). Additionally, the B&M at Station Square (Poor Richard's) is organizing a few outings this year. If we can get some interest I would be more than happy to get some info.

I am not a cheap person, but those prices are a rip.

I always take my own cigars to Pirate games and look out over the city. That is the way to go and a hell of a lot cheaper.

Very true...I just like to try things once to formulate my own opinion.

I'm from south of the 'Burgh (Uniontown), and have been looking for some cigar-friendly bars. Some friends and I made a road trip to the Cigar Bar in Market Square a couple weeks ago - I wasn't exactly dazzled by either the selection or the clientele. Most people appeared to be smoking cigarettes and BS'ing with the bartender. Maybe it was an off night. The humidor did not impress, either. I'm not positive that there was any humidification in it.

I have not been to the Club in PNC park. I'm thinking that sitting in the club smoking a good cigar would be the only way to make an afternoon of Pirate baseball endurable .

I've been hearing some adds on the radio for a cigar shop in Shadyside - the name escapes me at the moment. Is it new? Anyone been there?

No..but I am going to stop there after work this week so I will update this shortly. I know a couple of good B&M stores in the area. Old Allegheny Shoppe and Poor Richard's usually have the best selection and get OpusX, VSG, etc. in every few months. Old Allegheny runs alot of promos and has CAO, Torano and other reps in every few months too. I wish there was a good thread for B&M's in the area.

Re: Club Montecristo

Please give us a review of the shop in Shadyside. I just looked it up - it's called the Smokin' Depot. They have a website which seems either not quite complete or maybe just bad.

I have been to the Old Allegheny Shoppe a few times - they do have a good selection. I have heard good things about Poor Richards, but have not been there yet. I have also heard very good things about Allegheny Smokeworks in Blawnox, but haven't made it up there yet.

I have been to the small shops in the malls - Puff's 'n' Stuff at the Mall at Robinson; the Tinderbox at Century III; Tobacco Village (?) at Westmoreland Mall. They are all o.k. - nothing special.

My wife actually enjoys my cigar hobby at the moment - she is finding it easier to convince me to go to Pittsburgh shopping, because I know we will almost certainly be passing a shop somewhere along the way. She realizes that if she doesn't complain about me stopping and spending half an hour and twenty five bucks, I tend not to complain as much when she blows the rest of the savings account.

Re: Club Montecristo

The new store in Pittsburgh Mills is very nice. Huge humidor, but you can't smoke there. There is one in Station Square, as mentioned in the article.I heard that there is a cigar store in PPG lounge? Is that true or not?

The only restaurant I smoke at is Damon's. They are cigar friendly and I can watch sports and relax there.
