Saturday Morning Smoke & Coffee - 3/29/08
Thought I'd try to make this a semi-regular thing. Some Saturdays I'll get 'er done, some Saturdays I won't.
Today's pair up was Senoia Coffee Co. House Blend (with cream and sugar as always) and a Oliva Series G Mini Belicoso in the natural Camaroon wrapper.
To start off I love this cigar. Behind a corona its my favorite shape and size and is a good 45 minute to an hour smoke.
Didn't pay much attention to pre-light this morning as I was a bit preoccupied with making coffee and trying to remove a little nearly impossible to see sliver of glass from my better half's finger. Once the bit of glass was gone I moved on to my coffee and smoke out on the deck.
Construction was typical of what I've come to expect of Oliva - excellent. No soft spots, no hard spots and a very nice draw. Of interest, this stick is square-pressed and the edges are quite crisp.
The Series G lit evenly and easily. The smoke started out creamy (the creamer in the coffee may have had something to do with that) with hints of leather over a base of rich tobacco. Was quite easy to tell the wrapper was Camaroon.
At about the half-way point the leather faded some it picked up a sweet spice - maybe the Camaroon really ramping up a bit. The creaminess, rich tobacco base hung in there and the combination was quite pleasant.
Definitely not a 'turn you green on an empty stomach' strong cigar, it was pretty much medium bodied to me. Would be a good anytime smoke but it went exceptionally will with my morning coffee....
