Dark Chocolate?
Does anyone enjoy a few bars of dark chocolate with their cigars?
I am at my computer with a cup of coffee and a few bars of Ghirardelli dark chocolate. I had my wisdom teeth pulled the other day so I have been at home laying about and reading on the forum. But this reminds me of cigars a bit, and I got to wondering if they would compliment each other, cigars and chocolate that is. Anyone?

Re: Dark Chocolate?
I haven't had it with a cigar yet, and I can't try it for awhile until my mouth heals up.
I was wondering if anyone else pairs these two up?

Re: Dark Chocolate?
Closest I have had is a cigar and a Kahlua and milk. Does that count as chocolate? Too bad I am not into the flavored cigars. Than I could have a Kahlua with my Kahlua.

Re: Dark Chocolate?
never had chocolate with or before/after a 'gar but i do have a smoke with a yoo-hoo quite often
if its used to describe the flavors, it usually good with it! i know coffee & tea also really go well so i would assume chocolate would be really nice before or even half way through a smoke

My friend is a Yoo-hoo fanatic so I will have to recommend yoo-hoo with one of his cigars haha. May have to try it myself. ![]()

Re: Dark Chocolate?
I have had Dark Choc. as well as Milk Choc. with many cigars over the last few years. I don't know if it adds to the flavors of a cigar, or hides the flavors I don't care for anyway, but I think it compliments many cigars. I had Dove Dark Choc. Minis with an Opus X and I liked that one some better than the one just like it that I smoked alone.
Like I said, I think it is possible that there are a few flavors in these that I don't care for, and the Choc. might have masked them. Hard to say for sure. I can say for sure that in many circles, asking this question can get you ribbed quite Harshly. Not here in the Jungle, these guys are far too brotherly to do that. As a final , if you like it, do it. Anything is worth a shot. But be warned, you may end up missing flavors of your stogie, some of which you wouldn't want to miss. |

Re: Dark Chocolate?
Get me ribbed huh?
So are you not "supposed" to eat anything with a cigar in higher circles? I don't know much- but it seems like a drink could do the same thing of masking flavours. I was just thinking that they may compliment each other.. I'm just trying to enhance my smoking experiences, just like the coupling of a cigar with a drink. Thanks. ![]()

Re: Dark Chocolate?
I think you are correct in your thinking. But I know a few Purists that think you should only have pure water with them, else you mask flavors. Each to their own is my motto.

Re: Dark Chocolate?
Dark chocolate is great with cigars.
The sugar and sweetness of the chocolate is definately a noce pairing with a cigar.

Re: Dark Chocolate?
Sometimes I will have a handful of chocolate covered raisins with my cigars. Very yummy and goes well my cigars for the most part. I also have a white chocolate with a Montecristo and a glass of very sweet port. All three helped to bring out the deep cocoa taste from the MC.

Re: Dark Chocolate?
Thanks for your input everyone.
![]() I'm glad to see that I am not getting flamed here. I can understand the idea of having pure water with a cigar- that is another way I enjoy cigars as well- something to sort of clean my tounge and cool my mouth. But I am glad that I am not the only one who is cool with adding other flavors. White chocolate hmm? How does white chocolate taste different than milk and dark chocolate?
