A few more pics

Heaven on earth!

This is of the Havana #608, notice the seed pods to my left.

A close up of the blooms on one of the plants

On the lighter side as I was priming my irigation pump my son took a pic. If you look closely you can see some of the cattle in the distance to my right.

No wonder your 'baccy grows so big - you water and fertilize at the same time! Must take you all day though.......

The plot is looking great. I'm jealous! However, I'm also inspired. I think I found a farmer friend (has the farm next to the one I had) who is up for a combined plot next year. He's got about 2 acres of "garden" and had been talking about cutting it way down in size. He's up for putting in a bunch of tobacco plants instead. Now I just need to find some Corojo, Criollo, Habana 98, etc.... along with some Conny BL seed for next year.

Kevin,
I use a mixture of ground tobacco 1 tablespoon, ground black pepper 1 tablespoon, dish detergent 1/2 tablespoon, in 1 gallon of water. Spray on plants periodically especially after a rain. I use a small coffee grinder to grind it. You could probably use a dog rocket cigar as the tobacco, but I would increase it to 2 or 3 tablespoons, because it has been fermented and won't have as much nicotine. This spray works remarkably well for controlling those pesky leaf eaters. Good luck let me know how this works for you.

Growing tobacco is pretty hard on the soil, isn't it? I recall hearing that it takes huge amounts of fertilizer.

Awesome pics Brian!!! You absolutely have a green thumb!!!!! I can wait to see pics as you begin to harvest them. How long do you have to let the leaves sit and ferment/age before you will start to roll??

They will have to hang in the barn 6-8 weeks until they're cured. I'm not sure how long the fermenting will take. But my research is looking like 4-6 weeks. Then they should be ready to roll. I'm going to start priming today. I'll post some pics tonight or later in the week.
