Dunhill Signed Range cigars
:imconfused:
While shopping around for these on-line; I found out they have been in production for a while but with a different blend. The new version that was highly rated in CA: Strength: Medium Full Wrapper: Nicaraguan Binder: Cameroon Filler: Nic, Dom Rep Origin: Nicaragua AND/OR (older version) Strength: Medium, Very Smooth Wrapper: Ecuadorian Binder: Dominican Filler: South America, Dominican Origin: Dominican Republic Just wondering if anyone has tried both (thoughts) Do they come in different type presentations bands/boxes) Is there noticable difference in wrapper color/texture? Basically how can you differenciate between the two with out smoking them? TIA - BUD |

I did find out from a BOTL on another board that the bands are different. The wording on Nicaraguan is in caps and older Dominican isn't. BUD |

Never tried these sticks, although I heard alot of good things about them. I cannot remember where I read an article about the 2 lines. They definitely are 2 different blends and have 2 different bands on them. I will try to remember where I was reading about them.

I had a signed range awhile back (maybe almost a year now, I think).. I used to smoke their cigarettes and cigars back in the 80's, thats what got me thinking of the brand.
The earlier cigars I tried from them were very good (for what I liked in cigars). The newer signed range I picked up from a lounge here in LA. It was a med-full, not as much flavor as I like, but had loads of smoke (sorry, not much of a review). I know I wrote down somethings about this, but it didn't make me want to go back and pick some up.. IMHO..

Guess Don's suggestion swayed me - Got fivers of Dominicans (older version) in Robusto, Toro, Torp and Churchill -- Found a BOTL who will trade some Nicaraguan.
Looks like it's coming together. |

The Old Dominican Signed range is no longer in production. The new Signed Range is being made by the Torano Factory and was the #10 cigar in the top 25 last year.
The New Signed Ranges is made with all Nic. Tobacco and utilizing a Cameroon leaf as a binder. BAT (British American Tobacco) has hired a person from Habanos SA to blend this cigar and now you have a person with Tobacco experience blending Dunhill rather than a cigarette company attempting to make a premium smoke. The new Signed Range is a Med. bodied cigar that is loaded with flavour. The nuttiness of that cameroon binder really comes thru.

Nice, I'm intrigued to hear from someone who has smoked both. I've had the Dominican, and I have to say that it was so smooth, I almost couldn't detect any flavor. I'd personally call it mild instead of medium, but I guess that's a subjective matter.
