Owners of Stinky ashtrays
I was wiping out my ashtray yesterday, and was wondering what you guy's used to clean yours with. Mine turned out o.k. but there seemed to be a film left on it (I know it's just an ashtray). But hey it's got to look good right. Next time I decide to clean mine I will try some stainless steel cleaner that I use on the grill to see how that works.

I use basic dish soap for a general clean. Stainless steel cleaner works the best for keeping it looking the best as the cleaner does not leave a film, which is what you get with most general purpose cleaners. Johnson Wax has a cleaner that works well. Take a look in your grocery store for it - a silver looking aerosol can with black and silver lettering and a white cap. If you can't find any, drop me a PM and I'd be glad to pick up a can at the J-Wax company store for you next time I'm in there.

Mild liquid soap and water or the dish washer. Most of the other spray cleaners and stuff leave a film that makes the ashes stick to it taking away the shine between cleaning. My way you can empty the thing and wipe it with a cotton cloth a couple of times between washes and it continues to shine linke a mirror.

Everyday (well maybe once a week) cleaning glass cleaner.
Monthly cleaner-Johnson's stainless steel cleaner, mine is not in the same can as mentioned above, but more than likely similar. |
