Question Stogie most like the Anejo 77 Shark

Good day Gents,

So after 5 months, I'm finally out of my favorite Anejo 77 Shark. What a wild ride indeed but as it stands, their priced at $44 here in ATL and not to be found down in Tampa's Ybor City shops. However, I do believe I have an in on my return Wednesday...

So my question isn't a loaded one asking for cigars, but rather, based on the knowledge of this great forum:

What cigar favors the anejo no. 77 Shark the most? I know it to be of an opus x blend with a Connecticut wrapper and aged in empty? cognac barrels for a year...

Anything out there similar?

Thanks for all replies.

No kidding, hence the thread for a similar smoke. Amazing what some of these "high" end cigar shops off of sydney marcus blvd in ATL <*cough*> will charge. Probably why he's had them since the holidays...

Anyways, again if anyone has any input feel free.

La Aurora is starting to produce a Dominican cigar with a wrapper that is aged in a wine barrel. I have not tried it - buy its description is very close to the Anejo. If you can find one - try the Tatuate black labe. It is full bodied like the Anejo - not as much sweetness - but loads of depth. If you like the Anejo - I am almost certain you will appreciate the Tatuate Black

Man, I wish I knew the answer to this one. I haven't found anything quit like a Shark. The closest I've found is the ESV. It's not the "same" as a Shark, but gives you the same depth of flavors. The ESV ain't cheap either, but it's a fair cry from $40.00! that's just robbery!!

Little heads up...Tampa sweet hearts seem to always have Anajo in stock.

After posting this I looked for a review of Scottish Tavern and low and behold the following review:

Opus X for $80... wow that's price gouging...

That is a shame, but to each his own. Heck, with the way these legislators want it, a White Owl strawberry flavor will cost $44.

Go with Tampa Sweethearts, don't let the gougers take your money. Just find a different smoke or watch for people selling them.

It's called the Barrel age And it's got a bit looser draw than the Anejo...but a thick full smoke....be a good shot. Drop the price to about 18 and pick up one of our Preferidos...the Ruby (maduro) uhhuh..yum! Sweet and smooth...it's butta.

That's nuts man. When I was in ATL, my good friend Fred Nacy (the owner of Smoker's Paradise in Duluth/Suwanee GA) had them for the asking price of $11-$12 I believe. Now he only had one box and he allowed people to take up to 2 at once, but he was a good man for not gouging anyone. I would recommend that you see him come the holiday time when he gets them in...
