Expanding my pallet.

Hey guys. On facebook i have an app where i rate the cigars I've smoked. I rated the CI Legends as not so good as i didn't care for any of them.

A guy rebuts me and says "if you don't like them don't buy them."

What kind of idea is that? Shouldn't we be expanding our pallets and knowledge on different cigars? That would be a boring world if everyone smoked one cigar, drank one wine, had one burger every day.

Id rather buy something, try it, and dislike it than not giving it a shot.

Opinions?

Sean

I agree, one of the great things about cigars is trying new ones. Thats half the fun!! If you try it and dont like it. Its worth trying again at a later date. As your taste in cigars will change. There were cigars I really liked a year ago, that I dont care too much for now.

Wink

how could you possibly try every cigar out there... but thats the fun of our culture, attempting TO try every cigar out there!!!

I agree, try something - you don't like it the first time, its ok, cus maybe someone else does...and you might change your taste next year...

and you are so right, it would be SO boring if everyone smoked the same cigar...sheesh... IMHO... there is always room for more - now thats the joy of this industry - their always giving us something new!

I have made it my life's goal to smoke EVERY cigar! I am doing well in that regard.

You dont get to be a crazy maniac BOTL like the ones here by smokin just the one cigar you like.
I haven't smoked the same cigar more than once this month and I've had about 65-75 cigars this month.
Smoke anything at any price you never know what you will just love. Trade em if you don't care for em, it may be some elses fav!

Some people just don't get it. That guy probably likes the CI Legend and anybody who doesn't is just stupid.

I like vanilla ice cream but hate chocolate.

If everybody liked the same cigar there would only be one cigar made.

yeah, i cant remember the last time i ordered/bought the same stogie. I usually buy different samplers just so i can try different things. I only have a 25ct humi so i dont want to buy a box of anything. Its too much fun trying other things to settle on a box of 1.

I absolutely agree w/the masses on this one - you have to try everything to hone in on your likes and dislikes. Personal taste and preference are so subjective that you have to expose yourself to new things and constantly refine your opinions. Myself, I never used to buy more than a few of any stick - but in recent years, I've tuned in on the brands and flavors that I like most and am acquiring boxes of those cigars. However, I still buy a lot of samplers and singles to continue to expand my mind and palate. If it's out there, I want to at least try it once - that's really what this is all about.

Thanx to all the members of CL, hardly a day goes by that I don't learn about a new release or brand - my wife and accountant may not be thrilled about it but I'm lovin' it!!
