My family knows about it, but is not too happy with it. I'm sure other people have the same situation.

Anyway, How did you break the news about your hobby?

My family hates and the wife refuses to let me spend on them, so I save my pennies to get them. I haven't ordered any yet in the mail to see what would happen here at home. But she can smoke cigeretts all she wants,

Re: How did you tell your loved ones know about your cigar hobby?

My Dad is a retired Southern Baptist preacher. He's a great guy, but the last time he had a drink of alcohol, or a smoke, FDR was president, so I had to listen to a story about how a cigar once made him sick as a dog & he hasn't touched tobacco since.

If they express disapproval, I explain that I don't drink, don't cuss much, don't look at ****, cheat on my wife, smoke cigarettes, take dope, etc. etc. I then ask them to please throw me a bone.

Didn't say a word, just started. Wonder if that contributed to her not being around anymore?

My parents are both cigarette smokers so they really couldn't say too much, the GF actually likes it and will enjoy one with me from time to time.

Re: How did you tell your loved ones know about your cigar hobby?

I just smoked em, they smelled the smoke, and the fight was on.

My Dad and my Brother smoke cigars as well. We smoke together anytime we can. The rest of my family deals with it, my Mom gets all teary about it, so I don't let her see it.

My wife B*tches every time she thinks she smells one, and never misses a chance to breach the subject whenever she thinks I will be chastised for it. I said something about wanting to open a cigar shop once(in front of my Father in Law), and he asked me if I wasn't "afraid to face my lord after wronging so many people by selling them the devils weed". I'm like, please!! I wanted to ask him if he wasn't afraid of the same face to face after treating so many people like , but cooler head won over.

Anyway, I smoke. That is it, they either like it or they don't. My mom doesn't like it, because she loves me. For that I respect her feelings and keep it away from here. The rest....

Re: How did you tell your loved ones know about your cigar hobby?

Well I smoked before I met my wife and the rest of the family I kind of just lit up and went for it. No fights or arguments. My mom and step-dads tradition for years have been to pick me up smokes from where ever they go on vacation.Go figure this past summer when they went to Italy they came home with CAO Italias.

Re: How did you tell your loved ones know about your cigar hobby?

I smoked cigarettes and my wife wanted me to quit. So I made the treaty of cigar. Since I smoked both, I quit cigarettes for free reign in my cigar habit (sort of). Someone should publish this story...

Re: How did you tell your loved ones know about your cigar hobby?

Was never a problem here, Anita has always supported my hobbies. A few years ago it was old radios, wasn't long she was bidding on more than me. Same thing with the cigars, she orders more than me. As far as the rest of the family, they've never complained about it. I guess they figure that theres a lot worse things in the world than firing up a stogie. Don't ya wish everybody did?

Its kinda funny, we walked all over DC last saturday smoking cigars and not one complaint that I remember. The park and all the memorials.
