Pepin Seconds?

So most of the big guys sell seconds to the big online retailers. I am curious if Pepin does? I am sure that there are seconds and what happens to them?

I'm sure that some of the Pepin Seconds would fly off the shelves. I used to like the Patel Vintage seconds...

Anyone know?

Well, I do not know about Pepin "seconds", but from what I have heard, the new Pepin Benchmade by Ashton is supposed to be awesome for $2.00 a stick. I cannot wait to get some....

Tried 'em and I'm not sure I'll be buying more than the ones I have. They were a good $2 cigar, but not something I would like to smoke all the time.

Benchmade, Med and long filler. Does that mean they sweep the med filler from under the rolling bench?

Don't know, but the one I had would compare to a DPG JJ...
I plan on buying a box as soon as I can...
And there actually between $2.50-$4.00 depending on where you get them.

There is a Tatuaje P Series, which is made by Pepin. Sandwich filler, three sizes, and it runs about $3 a stick when buying a box of 31.

Seconds from the Pepin Factory are called Little Havana Overruns or LHO, it is my understanding they have been released twice, $60 a bundle if I remember correctly, anytime they are available they sell out in a day or two, they are very tastey and well worth it if you can find them.

That I know, I'm not 100% sure these are seconds because I cannot place the blends with the sizes...

Anyway with all of the cigars he makes, I'm sure there would be more of a consistent supply of seconds...

This is a good question. I wonder if it is deliberately mysterious in order to protect the price point of his name brand smokes or is it just that his small output in Miami didn't generate many? It will be interesting to see if more appear on the market now that he has the Nicaraguan operation going. Would love to find San Cristobel seconds!!!

That's what I was really wondering, it seems so much stuff is coming from the Nicaraguan factory that there would be more seconds around, of course, maybe some of the Nic Bundles that Holts has are those.

Just to restate your question in a way: "Where are the cigars that were rolled with the intention of being Pepin Blue/Black/JJ that weren't up to par to pass QC?". My guess... Smoked in house or destroyed ( Maybe torn apart and thrown into those mixer filler sticks?? Hmm).

As far as stuff made in Nic., I have no idea, you have to assume that every roller makes a mistake or two, and that adds up to a decent amount of cigars.

And just for clarification: LHO's are not rejects from any of his lines. They were most likely rolled to be something else completely (a test blend for a new line).

I would venture a guess that it would not be cost effective to destroy them, I would think that smoking buy the in house people would be what happens. I guess you could as the same question about Tat rejects...I doubt they make the P's out of them, but maybe that is it...

I am actually in Nicaragua right now and was talking to Pepin about this very thing. Every vendor is different, some pull seconds and sell them as seconds. Others send them back and take the wrappers off and reroll them. Pepin does the later.
