Question for you guys who don't get to smoke everyday
So I don't get to smoke as often as I like. Lately it seems like I only get to get a smoke in one day a week two if I am really lucky. So my question is to see if others are like me in this situation.
The days that I do get to smoke and when time permits I usually smoke 2 sticks back to back. Most people I know are happy with smoking one stick and calling it a day but for me when I finish a stick I can't wait to light up another one. I usually try to wait a 1/2 hour between sticks but at times that seems nearly impossible. So my question to those of you like me is are you happy just smoking one stick or are you too itching to light up another one right away because you know it will be a few days to a week before your next smoke? I know stupid question but was just wondering what others habits are. |

Re: Question for you guys who don't get to smoke everyday
It just depends if I have the time and how long the vitola is. Usually I smoke one a day. But if the situation calls, I have no problem smoking 2-3.
Parties or poker nights.....is definitely where this comes into factor..

Re: Question for you guys who don't get to smoke everyday
I have been on both ends of the smoking spectrum. I worked at a cigar store for about 4 months and I would smoke 5-6 cigars per day on average. Sometimes I would get as high as 10 per day. I don't need to tell you that if you're only at work for 8 hours a day you can't really wait very long to light up another stick when you are smoking that many. Right now, I only smoke once or twice every two weeks or so. To me it depends on a lot of factors as to whether I smoke more than one. If I'm with friends who are smoking sometimes I will smoke two if I get the chance. Often times I will smoke one then wait a bit and maybe have a drink or something to cleanse my palate a bit before lighting up the next. I found that when I was working at the cigar store and smoking lots of cigars back to back to back that after about the third cigar in a row (especially if I was smoking a strong maduro) all the cigars began to blend together and I lost the ability to distinguish the unique characteristics of each individual cigar. That is why I usually try to drink something between cigars. I find that a soft drink works fairly well, nothign too citrusy though, generally a Pepsi or Dr. Pepper. I think that the carbonation helps to remove some of the residue left from the cigar. Ok, sorry, back to the topic at hand... So in answering your question, I don't think there is anything wrong with lighting up a second cigar right after you get finished smoking one... I would offer you this advice though, I would make sure that you don't smoek a full bodied cigar THEN light up a milder cigar. You will lose a lot of the flavors from the mild cigar unless you do something like have a drink bewteen. Also, sometimes if I plan on smoking more than one, I smoke a shorter cigar first (generally a mild Petit Corona or Robusto) then move to a larger ring guage like a churchill or a Belicoso. Hope that helps.

Re: Question for you guys who don't get to smoke everyday
My current schedule doesnt leave me a whole lot of time for cigars.
I can only smoke on the weekends. Usually i have a stick after lunch on friday and depending on what ive got planned for the day i may have 1-2 more throughout the evening. I typically have a similiar routine on sat. or sun. but i normally dont smoke both days. I always tend to be busy one of those days and smoking doesnt fit into the scedule. I dont think there is anything wrong with back to back cigars. I try and wait 20-30 mins. before lighting another one just because i want to give the last cigar a chance to be rinsed from the pallet. |

Re: Question for you guys who don't get to smoke everyday
I smoke 5-7 cigars a day and have done so for a lot of years. I always have some type of drink when I am smoking. either regular and iced coffee or a soda. I usually wait 20-30 minutes before lighting my next one.

Re: Question for you guys who don't get to smoke everyday
On average, I smoke 2 per week, three if it's a good week. Like you, I have a full plate when it comes to leisure time. But I think summer will afford me with more opportunities and time.
I'm usually fine with one cigar; again it's the factor of having enough time. Two sticks back to back means 2 hours of smoking. That's why my prefered sizes are PCs and robustos. Shoot, a Short Story easily lasts me for 45 minutes. But I do stock some of the larger sizes for the rare instances of having more time to relax and puff...

Re: Question for you guys who don't get to smoke everyday
Usually I feel a little "tobaccoed out" after a full size cigar or a big bowl of pipe tobacco, but that doesn't always stop me...

Re: Question for you guys who don't get to smoke everyday
Every time I walk out of my tobacconist I thank whatever gods may exist that I am poor and can't afford more than one a day
.When I've had a good week in the markets or have just gotten a paycheck, hell, I'll buy enough to smoke 2-3 a day, but generally I am content with 4 pipes a day, and a good stick every other day or so; however, like I said, I could handle anywhere from 3-4 of my favorite sticks a day, and maybe more. I like the Bert Sugar article in the newest cigar mag, where he talks about either chewing or smoking through 25ish cigars a day. He's a man after my own heart - I'm not concerned about how many I smoke, I just hate it when they end ![]() |

Re: Question for you guys who don't get to smoke everyday
I allow myself to smoke one or two cigars a week. During the winter months it can be even less because I usually smoke outside. Now that I occasionally smoke a pipe it has been one cigar and one or two small bowls of pipe tobacco. In addition to this I always have a few beers or few glasses of scotch.
In answer to your question this amount of smoking has always been plenty for me and I have never felt an urge to smoke more. There are times when I am strapped where I don't smoke for months and don't miss it. I always end up smoking again though. On vacations I do tend to light up a mini cigar at every stop as well as smoking a few higher end full size ISOM's but thats only a few days a year.

Re: Question for you guys who don't get to smoke everyday
I usually smoke 3 every other day or so... without much of a problem.. I usually smok one at about 6:30am before work, then another around 11 am, then a last one at about 2:30pm or so.. On my days off, when my wife is at work, all bets are off and I can have up to 7 that day... I tend to chain smoke on my days off LOL...

Lately, I've been smoking 1 a day after dinner during the week. Friday nights I'm sometimes good for 2; Saturdays 2-4; Sundays 1-2.
