Status of El Primer Mundo Cigars

Just wondering if anyone had any information, scuttlebutt or sources about what has happened with El Primer Mundo Cigars. I've liked them since first trying them, but do fear for the worst.

Anyone have the 411?

What makes you fear the worst, Farka?

I didn't see a booth for Sean at IPCPR, which seems odd, and there are other factors which make me wonder. I see you're in Atlanta: are stores locally having any trouble restocking EPM?

Naturally, when I say "the worst" I'm meaning in industry parlance, rather than actual "worst" in terms of health or anything llike that.

No, he's not exhibiting at the show this year but has plans to perhaps introduce a new line or two at next year's show. Sean hangs out a lot at the store at which I part-time so he keeps us fairly well stocked but even he's out of the Rosado line, my favorite stick of his, right now.

I'm also in the Atlanta area. I met Sean at a herf about four months ago (very nice guy). He turned me onto he's Habano Criollo Maduro cigar. Great cigar!!! I also got to try his new Rosado cigar. There are at least two B&Ms near me that carry his line all the time. As far as I know El Primer Mundo is alive and kicking.

Great news. Sean came up north to do an event with us a while back, and everyone loved him and his cigars. Prototype of a good event from all points of view. I suppose he has to keep his region stocked, which might be why we've had a tough time filling orders. Can't wait to try what he's working on.

baboruger: I'd compare his three lines thusly:

1. Connecticut: it is tough to compare the EPM Connecticut to many other cigars, because the filler tobaccos (especially the Peruvian bit) stand out so much from other offerings in the world of "mild." If I had to stretch, I might say a Casa Toraņo crossbred with a Zino, though that's not precise.

2. The Rosado Oscuro is rich and smooth, not overly nutty, a bit like the Oliva Serie V, or, come to think of it, similar in taste to the Nub Habano.

3. The Criollo Maduro is the spiciest of the three, and, again, an analogue doesn't spring immediately to mind, but it is a helluva good cigar.

Of the three, numbers 2 and 1 are pretty much tied for me. The Connecticut impressed me so much because it is incredibly distinct, and I like to keep my taste buds on their toes.

Yea, Sean is a great guy and his cigars are very good, especially for the price.

Guess who I ran into today while having a smoke for lunch. The man himself Sean of El Primer Mundo. I sat and smoked with him over at the Ash Company in Buckhead ... I told about this thread. He's doing well.

Sean

I met Sean last year at RTDA (IPCPR) and we hit it off like old friends. I think his cigar is a fine smoke and I hope he knocks it out of the park. Getting a new cigar company off the ground is very tough, but I think Sean can handle it.

Love the Maduro of the line and several stores locally have no problem with stocking issues...
