My first Excalibur

I just finished my first Hoya de Monterrey Ex. It was a nice mild smoke but not exceptional. The construction, draw and burn were all absolutely perfect with a punch cut and I got a nice 90 minutes out of it. I smoked the No II, 6 3/4X48 which I had picked up in a sampler. I got some spice and pepper out of it and, for some reason, orange kept coming to me which was pleasant. Other than that it didn't have anything else to offer. It seemed like just a cigar to me. Did I miss anything or is that pretty much it?

I think that's pretty much it. Nice. Pleasant. Tasty. But exceptional - no.

I don't know why but I love these. I love the excal. but really enjoy the sterling. It is my go to stogie at the local B&M. They have it for around $3-6 and when I can't make a decision I go straight for it.

Just my opinion. I have not had a bad one yet.

Yep, that is pretty much it for me, too. I enjoy this cigar when I need a break from my usuals. It is almost like smelling coffee beans when you are out looking for cologne,,,you just need something to break the cycle and this is a good cigar to break your usual cycle.

I've got one of the sterling types too, Snapperhead. I'll give that a try soon. Thanks for the feedback. It's more important to me than you might think. Sometimes we pick up a bad stick and get turned off to what really is a good smoke. You folks are fountain of good information and I'm glad to be here. Thanks.
