How old were you and how did you get started with cigars?

When I was 15 there was a HUGE thread on cigars on another forum and that is what got me really interested. I didn't actually start smoking until about 6 months ago, a month or so after my 19th birthday.

I'm the youngen then. I started when I was about 11 years old. Used to uhhhh "borrow" them from my grandfather's dresser. They were the cheap drugstore kind (King Edward). I began with premium when I hit college, about 17/18 years old.

I just started smoking, I'm 19 goin on 20 this summer.
I went down to Ybor City while I was home from school and bought a smoke with some friends and found that I really liked it. I've been hooked ever since... I hope I can meet CF, and I went to high school with Newman's son, so I already know the Newmans

I was 18 and a friend of mine gave me a swisher sweet. I decided to buy a tin of Macanudo ascots to show off a little when we went out. I liked them so I started trying some larger cigars... 5 years later and still doing pretty good.

What did your parents say when they found out about your hobby of cigars? I'm at that point now. 19, almost 20, and they HATE it. They are very religious, but it is only 1-2 per week. Any insight how to handle it?

no idea, my parents are coll with it. started when 17, been almost 2 years and haven't looked back. they weren't fond of it, but now they dont care/dont even mind really.

Tell them that you feel like you are old enough to make your own decisions concerning your own body and that you won't do it when they are around. Also say that if they want you to stop then you will take their opinion with a lot of consideration because of the fact that they are you parents. That's what I told my parents.

I started when I was 19... the day after my birthday actually, I rememeber it because you have to be 19 to buy tobacco in Alabama (stupid huh?) and I wanted to try it. So I went down to my local B&M in Tuscaloosa and bought a Romeo y Julieta and smoked it in one of the rocking chairs on the balcony of my student union at UA as the sun set on a warm summer evening. I always associated smoking a cigar with that kind of carefree day and whenever I smoke one now it brings back good memories and days without any worries.
