I felt the same way on the first one as well. Let the others sit, and continue trying other cigars. After a couple of months, and you have smoked some other blends, try the fusion again. If you still don't like them, trade them away.

The second one was much better for me, but not enough to justify buying more. However, I feel the same way about the Old World Reserves and a bunch of other Rocky blends. Right now the only Rocky's I enjoy are the Sun Growns, OSG's Edge Maduro Missiles and ITC 10th Anniversary. Tonight, I'm going to give the decade a try though....

I being the guru of RP cigars have to agree with the fusion. It is very inconsistant, and not a big fan either. Stick to the Edge, SG, ITC 10th, Decade, and vintage lines.

RP bought the tobacco from a defunct project by general cigar to produce these cigars. There was hundreds of thousands of sq ft full of this tobacco. There is plenty of wrapper material.

Big difference here is that Don Pepin owns and controls his own manufacturing. Second he is blending and in some cases producing cigars for other people. This is more of a consulting role unlike RP who has his own lines and not his own facilities.

I like the Fusion, but just not as much as the 1990 or especially the 1992. I don't care for the Maduro Fusion at all.

You said it yourself in the last line of your post "and some of them only cost me two bucks". I hate when I read of something is better the a good cigar but is being sold at way less money! Just be warned when you see that kind of stuff. I like RP cigars but all the stuff he makes just for CI does nothing for me. The way I see it, if its a RP and you can't buy it in a B&M then stay away from it. I do agree with Rider about the Olde World Corojo, I think it is his best cigar.

The Fusion isn't for just CI. I bought mine elsewhere.

I'm not sure what you mean by your post Frank. What I meant to say is that I've paid $2 a stick for cigars (on special sale)that tasted better to me than the 15 cigar Fusion sampler that I got from CI. So far I've had a Fusion and Fusion MM and they were both dog rockets. I'll be happy to let them age for a long time before I try another one. I still have to sample one of the "barber pole" fusions but I'm not too optimistic. BTW, they were $45 for 15 sticks.

I wasn't trying to be negative. I was trying to say sometimes you get what you pay for. And sometimes you do get good deals or get lucky. By the way I have some Benchmade I paid about 2.50 a stick for and I love them.

He's flooded the market with different sticks, like Gurkha, and the newer ones I tried didn't match his older stand-bys. So now I buy nothing from him except an occasional Edge/Vintage.

Bottom line is, right now I'm not a big Fusion fan. Some humi time may change that as well as my palate maturing. I've liked most all of the other RP stuff I've tried including the Indian Tabac but the Fusions don't do it for me personally.

I got mine from cigar.com but I've seen the regular Fusion(not maduro or anything else) in a B&M.
