You know, I've been thinking alot about this same topic lately. I figured out that if I would have saved all the money I spent buying "okay" cigars, I could have had a couple boxes of the cigars I realy enjoy (Davidoffs, ESG's, etc...). So I may have had to cut down on the smoking a little bit, but I would have enjoyed it more. I've found myself getting more and more pickier about what I purchase lately.

Some would say that makes me a snob. Maybe. But here's the difference...if someone gifted me a cigar, I'd enjoy that cigar just as much because someone was thoughtful enough to think of me.

I'm willing to bet there is someone on this forum that loves those cigars. Post them up for trade and see if you can convert a few of the sticks you don't enjoy into a few you do.

Well said. I'm always skeptical of "value" cigars. I'd rather spend a little more on something I enjoy than cheaping out on something that just pisses me off.

Yeah, I've bought some "value" cigars that weren't. However, one of my favorites, regardless of price, is the Padron londres. Under $4.00 each at my local, and cheaper on line. In my humble opinion, quality can't always be measured by the price tag.

I'm with you all the way Chad. I have some off types in my humis but I'm having trouble getting to them. There are so many "better" ones waiting to be torched. Often I'll pick one that I really like which is great, but I'll usually wait until I smoke another one of its brothers because I have to see what the "new" ones are like. So many sticks, so little time. I'm in heaven.

Don't feel sad. That is why they make more than one cigar in the flavor you like. Life is too short to feel bad. Smoke your favorites, enjoy them and do it again. That is why they invented the Internet so you can do some cigar shopping and compare pricing on your favorite smokes.

If you dont smoke a good cigar, you'll never enjoy it. Smoke it, age it, or trade it.

the "problem" is universal it seems. save the "good Ones" for a special time or just smoke them. I have received some smokes in trades on other forums that I never heard of and not too pricey that turned out to be good and I would have never bought them because of no publicity or not one of the big brands. so sometimes the "bargain" smoke is special if you consider the price to taste ratio

Sounds like you have a great wife. My wife was busting my chops last night for keeping the AC lower than she likes it so I can keep my cabinets temp in check.
I used to save a lot of my higher end sticks for special occasions but lately I am trying to smoke them more often since I have come to the realization that I can't predict the future and who knows if I will get hit by a bus tomorrow and my beloved smokes will end up a garage sale item anyway. Plus I am at the point where I have more special occasion smokes than I will probably have special occasions, so I just need to celebrate being able to kick back with a great smoke and let that be special occasion enough. I will admit that if I know that I will be smoking in the car I try not to grab to special a stick since I know I will not be able to give it the attention it deserves and for some reason when I smoke in the car I usually end up with burn issues. Probably has to due with the window open and the floor vents being on high.
