Rating Cigars

I have smoked cigars for several years and I am starting to save my bands and rate the cigars I smoke. They all seem to be good. Help with some suggestions on how you would rate your Cigars. Thanks

Rick I know most of what u smoke... I also know u like some stuff more than others.. In the end though brother you do not smoke bad cigars! Perhaps u need to practice writing what you are tasting in the cigars and develop your palet.. i would like to get a couple of us to smoke the same cigar and compare notes afterward... just a thought!

Try using the ICRS (Independent Cigar Rating System) that you can find on this site or on www.cigarresearch.com. It is free and gives you the best system for recalling your smokes and rating them according to your personal tastes. If you have any questions, you can always talk to the creator... me.

Let me know what you think.

I suggest keeping it simple as you will be trying quite a few cigars in your time. I use to keep the bands myself until I had so many that I didn't know where to put them anymore. I then started to keep notes much like you will see when it compares burn, consistancy, flavor etc etc. I rate these from 1 to 10 and keep the findings in a file on my desktop. Any cigar that I rate that is an 8 and above becomes my primary smokes. Anything that comes under a 8 rating is usually a yard cigar that I can get on sale for under $40 a box. As with anything, use your own system that works for you.

Charles Sounds great. I see cigars rated on some type of point system all the time. I'm not sure I could do this, not even sure I want to. I am looking for suggestions on how others might do this. I will always smoke with you and compare notes, sounds like a good start.
