saving cigars

alright ive had a few cigars that have been sitting out for too long and have clearly dried out. they feel and look dry. is there anyway to put some life back into them? i was thinking about leaving them in the humi for a few months and see if it put some moisture back into them or is it all in vein?

if I remember correctly, there is a way you can do it. But it is not good for the cigar to suddenly introduce it to that kind of humidity so quickly. The wrapper could split. The trick is (If I am not mistaken) to bring up the moisture slowly.
I could be wrong though.

Wouldn't the essential oils be gone? So even if you rehydrate it, it would taste like dog turd?

You can bring them back to life slowly, bring up the humidity in stages like Josh said. There is a chance that they have lost too much of their oils and will not taste good, but there is a chance they will be OK.

how should i go about bringing the humidity up gradually without subjecting the rest of my sticks to the same treatment?

Whats the current humidity where you live? You put em in 60 to 70% humidor just how much difference are you talking about?
The real problems arise when you make drastic temperature changes.

according to weather.com its 70% humidiy and 77*F

the temp has been pretty steady but they have definitely dried out. so what your saying is i should be pretty good to go with just sticking them into the humi and letting them sit for a few months and hope for the best?

I'm no expert, but I would say yes. Sounds like you live in a nice climate.

Agreed. Slow re-introduction of humidity should rejuvinate the cigars.

As stated above. just put them in the bottom of the humi and give them at least 6 months - the cigars should be fine to smoke. What you may find is that you have lost some of the natural oils and the cigars will smoke milder with a little less punch, but that doesn't mean that it won't be enjoyable and you haven't wasted a good cigar.
