As far as beer goes, I really enjoy a scotch ale. Scotty Karate from Dark Horse Brewing comes to mind. I think a nut brown would also do well but haven't tried it, might have to do that today.

Flor de Cana rum or Cafe Bustelo are my choices for drinking beverages. From time to time I will drink water though.

Scotch or Cognac are my two favorite alcoholic drinks to sip with cigars.

When it comes to the soft drinks, I often find myself with iced tea (sweetened with a VERY small amound of Splenda™), iced coffee (really is quite good actually), Diet Pepsi (not so much anymore due to my upcoming surgery), or ice water.

Coffee of course, some teas, single malt, some blended whiskeys, wine (red), port, I even had some champagne the other night with a lighter cigar and it paired great!

If you like coffee and beer you should try some nice stout or porters. I personally like Youngs double chocolate stout. On another note, i am really enjoying Eagle Rare bourbon right now.

i don't drink alcohol at all so i have no idea what new flavors the combination with cigars brings. before i started smoking cigars, when i did drink (and it was as lot) it was not for the flavor or taste.

WATER - at room temp. i don't drink anything that will in anyway change the taste of my cigar.

COFFEE - with a little cream. this is to take away the flavor of whatever I had to eat or drink that may step on my cigar.

Non-Alcoholic Beer - I like the taste of a good beer but since I don't drink alcohol this is something that can happen from time to time while smoking a cigar that is not too great in the first two thirds but has good at the finish. The beer last just long enough for the cigar to start tasting good. It's usually a Kaliber by Guinness. The one and only near-beer that has a bold flavor.

Black Coffee, the stronger the better, NOT CHARBUCK$ it is way over rated & has a burnt flavor to me , but any good peaberry coffee is fine with a medium dark roast , the peaberry has a natural sweetness to it & will tickle the taste buds with a Cammeroon smoke , as far as Single malts Laugavulin is my favorite go to scotch , but at 70 bucks a bottle it is not on the daily menu , the press pot is the way to go with a fine old kenya AA or columbian coffee & a fine old contraband smoke, I enjoy the PSD #4 when I can get them, Kona coffee is my Sunday morning pot of coffee with a Don Carlos #3 but for a dark beer I like a Cheep bundle cigar Alcazar , I dont know what it is about this dark stick it just has an effinity with the dark beer , it is tasty with coffee but a stand out with St.Pauly Girl dark beer !

It's a time of day question

Let me put on the thinkin cap
For a morning cigar - I'll start with either a cup of Maker's Mark coffee or a good rich columbian blend
For a mid-day cigar - water, soda, sometimes a little bourbon
For an evening cigar - a beer with a little body, a good martini (beefeaters), or the beverage of the moment (crown, bourbon, whiskey, or whatever)

DISCLAIMER: Since I own the bar too... the answer really does change by the moment.

If I've had a steak first... the cigar gets to be a little more robust.

If you're seriously searching for some tips for enjoyment... try matching the strength of the drink to the strength of the cigar --- light with light, med with med, and heavy with heavy. If you've already burned out the taste buds... go for impact and taste... it's like a wine thing... once you know a combination is good or bad... you've learned something... the trick is trying to remember.

For me in the mornings it has to be coffee, strong and black. In the afternoons usually root beer, preferably Barq's. In the evenings I usually go over to my dad's and we sit on the back porch with cigars and beer, dark always ShinerBock(it is a TX thing). For milder smokes or for a change I go with a glass of brandy or bourbon and ginger ale on the rocks, a fine single malt is also a good choice when you can get it.

Last nights Herf was 2 cigars each along with a few shots of Jack Daniels as well as a glass of Jack and Gingerail. We solved all the worlds problems, won the election and planned the next woodworking project. WHEW! My BIL and I do this every saturday night.
