I leave them as they come. However, when I buy boxes I do remove the cello from 5 or 6 at the bottom for aging purposes. They will age slower with the cello on. The rest I leave it on to protect them.

Good Idea Dozer. I'm going to do that when I get home. I look forward to trying them maby the next presidential election. See if there's a difference between the wrapped and un-wrapped.

I just leave mine however they came. In one way I like non cello because it not only looks nicer and speeds up the aging process. I like cello because I don't have to worry about damaging any cigars foot when rumaging through the humi.

I do keep cello and non cello separated in the humi.

Unless I am planning on freezing the cigars, I always take the cello off all cigars immediately to have a look. Then:

- for long-term aging, cigars are put in sealed mason jars (after the cigars are properly humidified - no humidification in the jars). Thus, the cigars are never handled, but can be inspected without disturbing the marriage process;

- for storage, closed (cedar) boxes in cooler-dors, or old-school humidors, both with pounds of beads and quarterly stock rotation; (FYI, I just noticed last week that RP Vintage 90/92 produce enough oil in four months under the weight of three layers to leave a visible deposit on cedar.)

- for consumption, Pelican boxes or a display humidor.

I would keep the cello on for:
- open sticks in a cheap humidor, or
- cigars in a singles drawer. I have a display humidor instead and am pretty comfortable window-shopping. Although glass destroys a humidor's ability to passively regulate temperature, seeing does minimize the need for rummaging. :-)

Isn't the smoke pretty bad if the wrappers are left on during smoking?

I leave them they way they come. Mainly because I far to lazy to bother with taking all the cello off. lol

Dozer, I took your advice. I removed some plastic wrappers from about 10 cigars and put them at the bottom. It'll be quite a while before I dig that deep for a smoke so I'm looking forward to the day I get to smoke them. BTW call the bomb squad.
