how do I correct the calibration?

I bought a Savoy digital hydrometer/thermometer. I did the salt test and found it's off by 10 to 12 on the humidity scale. Anyone know how to adjust one of these? I thought my humi was not holding humidity, had me worried.

Some have adjusters on them others don't. If yours doesn't the best thing to do is right down the difference (+10) and keep it. Maybe put it under the bottom of your humidor so it will always be handy. There is also a cheap test kit you and buy just to make sure the salt test was right. A few websites have them.

Dont trust the salt test!!! Get a Bodiva Calabration Kit there only 3-4 bucks and you know you have a true reading.

I would also suggest putting a new battery in it...

this. My batteries are dying, and I can see the difference. I need all new batteries, but I think I'm going to try a different system...

I checked it with an analog gauge in a zip lock bag and a shot glass 3/4 full of damp salt. The analog gauge reads about 75% the digital reads 62%. I just got it, so I'm probably going to return it for a new one.

I know they are a bit pricey but I would get a cigar oasis. They are like the set it and forget type of humidification device for humidors. They are awesome it reads the humidity and adjusts itself accordingly to keep the humidity at what you set it at.

That's a good idea to return it. Off by 13% is a little too much IMHO.
Tha salt test has always worked for me. I put them all in a small tupperware & wait about 24 - 48 hrs.
