I've had a few that I've enjoyed, including the Cienfuego as somebody mentioned. And I hate to sound like I'm piling on, but the taste on most I've had just doesn't quite match what I'm looking for. They're not bad- just not something I go to or look for. Also, i thought it was a bad idea to change the name. I'm sure there's a good reason for it, but I just thought it was a bad idea. Generally I think it's good for a cigar label to have some history. Not that a new brand can't be as good as an old one. But cigar smoking is part ceremony, and brand recognition is a part of the ceremony. Nostalgia, memories of other places you enjoyed a particular smoke, etc.

Hello Gentlemen (and I use the term loosely around here
)Thank you for your input. I have questions and comments regarding this thread. First of all, what is your sample size when you determine if you like a brand or not? Is it one cigar, 2, 3, etc?? We obviously always want to make a good first impression, but you should never judge an entire brand or manufacturer by one cigar or one cigar from one particular brand extension. Now, I fully understand why most of our brands are not your cup of tea. If you are strictly a 'full-bodied' cigar smoker, we definitely do not have that taste profile in our portfolio. The strongest cigar in our portfolio is the Cuba Aliados double fuerte. I would love for you guys to try that and see if it tickles your fancy. Indeed, most of our cigars are on the mild to medium range, and have great balance and flavor. We are big on flavor but we simply don't blend for power. Since taste is subjective, I never try to convince someone that my cigars taste good. You are the best judge of what you like, no one else's review or rating should tell you that. Construction on the other hand, is objective and if we are faulty in that category, we must take the proper steps to correct it. My 2nd question is - what mild-medium cigar is part of your rotation? |

Hi Frank,
I have to say that I make my opinions after I smoke about 5 of a particular cigar. I also don't give up on a brand because I don't like one cigar, I think that I have smoked most, if not all of your line, and i will continue to try the new cigars that you put out there. As for a Mild/Medium cigar that is part of my normal rotation, hmmmm...I think I really don't have one that is part of a normal rotation. I just tend to not keep smoking them if they are not what I enjoy. Every once and again I will pick up a R&J Habana Reserve or something, but that is a rarity. All in all, just because I don't enjoy something does not mean others won't. I still wear my Reyes Family T-shirt to the shops, and I'll always try something new... Now release those samples you sent out last year with the red and white Fuerte bands on them and you will have a hit, at least with the guys on this board. Now on an interesting side note, I was talking with my local B&M about getting an event for Pepin to come to the shop, and he said that he is not a big seller in the store. he said that me and a couple other guys (CL members most likely) come in and buy him, but not many others. So, with Pepin being so popular on the boards I thought it was surprising. But when you think about it, we are such a small snapshot of the cigar smoking world that we might be shifted towards one small segment of the market (full) while many many many more smokers out there smoke Mild or Mild/Medium cigars. So take this for what it is worth Frank. |

I haven't smoke a lot of your cigars but I really enjoy the Puros Indios line. I have smoke quite a few and have several in my humi right now.

Baboruger,
You are right, the forums are only a tiny snapshot of consumer spending/behavior within the cigar world. If we based our decisions solely on the forums, we would never realize that Macanudo is the best selling cigar in this country. However, being a small family owned business, the way we see it is - it's all about one cigar and one smoker. We value communicating with smokers whether it is at in-store events or via cigar forums. In other words, we love this chit:teacher: |

Frank, I appreciate you reading and posting on our forum! Its great to see a manufacturer take the time to gather input here.
As far as Reyes family cigars, I cant say I have tried your new lines yet. The Puros Indios never suited me, and only had a couple of the cuba aliados. The few cuba aliados I have tried were still too mild for my tasted but was in no way a bad cigar. I havent tried the double fuerte but I will add that to my list of cigars to try one day! thanks for the comments |

For me I have tried both the robusto and toro sizes, two each, of the Classic. I have not tried the Premier. I too like the Puros Indios sticks I have in the humi - I don't spark one every day, but they are in the extended rotation. I also have several Cuba Aliados on hand as well. For other mild to mid sticks, it's a Gran Habano #1 or #3, CAO Cammie, Torano, La Aurora, AF, HdM Excaliber - no particular order on these but I do keep them on hand in the humi for a change of pace.
THANK YOU Frank for being actively available on this forum!!!!!!!

But eventually I did, and the cigar became part of one of the funniest moments of when I worked in the shop. The Chief was the cigar used, and a reference to the moment can be read here: http://************.com/2008/07/08/r...amily-premier/ The Reyes cigar and upgrade in the band is nice, and when I open my B&M in a months time I plan to carry at least the premier and the classic line of reyes. |

Here is a review that I did on the Cuba Aliados Anniversary cigar last year:
I tried this cigar yesterday while sitting outside in my backyard and I have to say that I was impressed with this cigar. Initially, I found the cigar to have a smooth, creamy leathery flavor that lasted until about the halfway point where it took on a more toasted nutty flavor with the leathery taste still present but more in the background. The cigar then changes again towards the end with a peppery/leathery taste that makes this cigar finish very nicely with a little kick. This cigar is much different than the regular Cuba Aliados line in that the tobaccos taste of more aged/better quality tobaccos. Construction and draw was perfect and it burned great. I think Reyes Cigar Family has a winner with this cigar! |

As far as these cigars go, I've only tried the Cienfuegos. I got a five pack of cigar bid probably a year ago. It was an ok smoke, very nice construction as others have stated. Unfortunately, it just wasn't that memorable to me.. in fact, I was suprised to see that it received a 90 rating from Cigar Oficionado.
