Seeking Cold Weather Smoking Suggestions
Okay... so Florida boy here is now in a climate that is completely unfamiliar. What the hell is with this damn cold crap! Florida is a great environment for smoking all year round. I am an outdoor smoker and I have a feeling I'll be going through withdrawl if I don't figure out a way to enjoy a cigar without freezing my tail off! So, here are my stipulations, I don't smoke in the house, the nearest cigar store/lounge is about an hour away so I can't go there every time I need a smoke, and finally, I don't want to freeze! What suggestions do you have for me (if any). Hell... best suggestion gets a fiver!

OK bro .... If u have a porch to chill on while u smoke i reccomend a comfy chair or couch. Grab a plug in space heater and sacrafice a nice sleeping bag. Jump in the bag and grab a gar and beer and watch the game. It actually works great lmao. just do not fall asleep with the lit gar...

My brother bought this for us when we smoke out on my porch in the winter. It gets pretty cold up here in the mountains and this keeps us toasty..It's called Mr. Heater and in runs on 2 small propane bottles that are contained inside the unit..it also has a fan that run on D batteries..This thing is SWEET..

Well, for one, try smoking smaller cigars like petite coronas. The only other thing you can really do that won't break the bank too bad is to bundle up. Of course, you could get a small, cheap tent that pops up when you open it, and then keep a small space heater inside.

My suggestion is to get an Oil Filled Radiator heater. They don't blow the hot air on you, so it won't dry out your smoke. They do keep the general area nice and toasty. If you can get into a garage, it works the best, but the heater will keep you warm outside if you stay around 5 feet of it. And don't forget the hat and sweatshirt.

Come over to my house...we'll both smoke inside!
Really I dunno what to tell you. If you have a garage, you could turn that into a nice man cave, if you don't wanna park the car inside of course. You could build a cigar shack out back if you have the room. Some 1x and some plastic, with a small space heater should do the trick. If you have a deck enclose a small part of it. Up here in the great northeast, it gets really cold! I live in a condo, so I have only two choices, well three, but the third I won't do. I can smoke inside, go to my local and smoke in the lounge, or quit cigars for the winter. I do one and two...lol |

Chiminea...They are an outdoor fireplace and come in a variety of sizes and styles and they are extremely warm. They radiate the heat 10 times better than an open pit and the smoke goes strait up so you can get close without choking on the smoke. It is in the 30's here in west Texas right now so I feel your pain. The weather here never can make up its mind, I'll be wearing shorts in December. Check out the website below.

IMO you should smoke an Illusione 68
Its the same blend as the other illusiones just smaller, and its a fantastic smoke. |

Heres what I do. I use a kerosene heater I had sitting around. This guy is BIG. Warms up my back deck like it was spring time. If you dont have access to such a large heater, get a plug in space heater and bundle up. I also tend to enjoy a nice glass of scotch or whisky with my smokes... warms the bones
When you bundle up, remember to layer. Start with a long sleeve tee shirt then maybe a sweatshirt on top of that and if that is not enough a fleece or heavy outer layer. Or go to a bar? ![]()

Great suggestions so far guys!
No need to rub it in Ryan... I know what it is like in FL... my wife tells me every day when I send her a pic of the temp in my car! To answer Mike's question, There is a porch with that has a very high ceiling. If I have the chance, I'll post a picture. It gets pretty cold for my taste, but in reality, the temp when I'm normally smoking would be in the 40's or 50's. My budget is not the greatest, but I am open for suggestions.

up here in the Great White North, I'm thinking it'll get considerably colder before I see "warm" weather again... in the works for me is a 'smoke shed' at the side of the house - 10x14 galvanized steel tool shed, going to get some sheet foam and a tube of liquid nails to put it up, then I've got one of those coleman tent heaters that I'm going to try out - if that doesn't work, I've also got an old wood stove that might just get shoved in there
(though I'll need to leave room to park the snowblower too ) |
