your thoughts

what are your thoughts of the b&m's not unwrapping cigars and storing them in their humidors. i think that its bad eventhough they are wrapped they are still going to lose the little moisture that they have naturally. but if your local dealer is anything like mine who uses tap water in the humidor i would rather them leave them in the wrappers.

Re: your thoughts

if they are putting them in the humi at all, the cello doesn't make a ton of difference.
if they are not in a humi at all, then yeah they'll dry out.

Re: your thoughts

My local b&m stores them as they come. He uses distilled water in his humidifier. I store my cigars how I by them as well. No problems yet.

Re: your thoughts

I may be taking your question out of context.

But, I'd prefer my sticks wrapped until such time as they hit MY humidor. I have visions of some guy leaving the restroom, not washing his hands, and asking to take a look at that 'thar' Opus X. Sticking it halfway up his nostril as he takes a wiff then saying no thanks.

back into the pile it goes.

I have a whole new perspective now. I have always preferred mine in the cello and thought maybe they should be out, but now I KNOW I was right. Geez - the vision of nasty notrils has grossed me out.

what does it matter if they have cello or not if they are in a humi.
id prefer them on, just for sanitary reasons, but they do look nicer with it off.
its not gonna affect the cigar buddy.

also, most humidifiers, such as room humidifiers and water + fan systems work fine with tap water.

the water that evaporates, is pure, impurities are left behind.

Couldnt have said it any better. The way I buy them is the way I store them.

I wouldnt buy from a B&M that didnt store their cigars in a correct manner.

Re: your thoughts

My local B&M's whole store is the humidor. When you walk in you get hit with the humidity. He stores the cigars as they come. I've never had any problems with the sticks I have gotten. I also store mine in the cello.

nice tude you have there, just asking a question BUDDY besides if the cello is off where do you think the impurities are going to be left behind.

haha, attitude? where.
seriously, i hope i didnt come off as mean.

if you have a bowl of water with minerals, salt etc in it, as the pure water evaporates, the impurities will be left in the dish, reservoir etc.

if i use a sponge to humidify my rubbermaidador, and charge the sponge with tap, the calcium, magnesium, salt, dirt etc in the water will be left in the sponge when the pure water evaporates, meaning only pure water vapor will touch the cigar.

please dont talk about my "tude" when you are e-flipping me off. .

but if youre local b&m has a humidor like most then the impurities are spread throughout the entire humidor and the ones that are not wrapped will have a powdery residue on them.

unless your place uses a mister (highly unlikely, since it is a terrible way to humidify, doubt any B&Ms use em) all humidity in the air is from some form of evaporation, whether it be from a fan or just passive humidity.

the coating is either mold or bloom.
probably bloom if im imagining what you are talking about.
not a bad thing.
