Obama Smokes? Maybe there's hope?

I'm not really looking for a political discussion, but I'll probably get one anyway.

I just happened to find this interesting post this morning.

It is even more interesting that it comes from a non-smoker defending smoker's rights. It's a short 1 minute read.

Who knows, maybe Obama will make the cover of CA. From my discussions, most, if not all of the cigar industry executives voted Republican because of the SCHIPS bill, if not other reasons as well.

Maybe there is some hope for smokers anyway. Check out this post and let me know what you think.

I invited him to have a cigar with me 2 years ago when he spoke at our church denomination's general synod. this was before he declared his running. I received a response from some "handler" stating it wouldn't be able to happen as the press wouldn't be favorable...I responded that it was only a cigar with myself and a couple of other people, didn't have to have any press there (in fact I would prefer no press). the response was that it wasn't going to happen no matter what.

there's always a chance. Its easy to vote for something, when you know the president is going to veto it

Obama's first 'change' - quit smoking

But seriously, I'm hopeful and willing to give him a chance.

I just read the article by Jerry Della Femina. I highly enjoyed how he described Obama smoking. Also, it really stinks how his friend was treated while trying to board the plane with a unlit cigar, sad.

I'm choosing to abstain from political discussions here, but I am a smoker. I'm all for smoking bans in public places that are enclosed. I'm also for bans in bars and private sectors, with a major caveat: it must be optional. However, those places that choose to ban smoking should have an incentive (i.e. tax breaks).

I agree. I feel as though a business should be able to choose weither or not to allow smoking in their place of business. Bars around upstate NY here were outraged when the smoking ban came here because the majority of their business smoke. lol

From his own site, here is what Obama is going to do with the SCHIP bill, and what that means for us.....tax, tax, tax.

http://www.barackobama.com/2007/10/1...schip_vote.php

how he voted on the bill the first time.

Obama is no BOTL or even a friend to us, that's for sure. So no, there is no hope.
