Trip to DR next week...

Taking a trip to the DR next week. Arrive in Santo Domingo with a lady friend. Next day traveling to Santiago. Looking to visit the La Aurora factory, as the Leon Jimmenes 300 Series is one of my fav buys at the moment. Any tips, advice from fellow BOTL would be much appreciated.

Its been a long time since my last post, but I have not forgotten everyone. A big party at the Cigar Superstore in ATL had tons of folks coming out and frankly left me speechless.

When at the La Aurora factory ask for Jose Blanco and I'm sure he'll give you a tour. Right down the road is La Flor Dominicana, check them out.

On your way to/from Santo Domingo/Santiago stop in Bonao and check out Abe Flores' Pinar Del Rio. Bonao Restaurant right off the highway is a great place to eat. I recommend the Chivo Picante.

If you can make to Tamboril, a Santiago suburb, go see Tabacalera William Ventura and tell him I sent you.

In Santiago, go to the Trade Free Zone and see if you can get a tour of the General Cigar Factory, it is HUGE!

The La Aurora factory with the store is in downtown Santiago....at the Leon Center. It is where they make the Preferidos. (Stay at the Gran Alamirante nice hotel and good cigar shop.) The new La Aurora factory is in the duty free zone near Litto's place but in a separate zone. I would try to contact Jose before you leave because he has been traveling a lot. Usually the factories are not open for tours unless you have set something up.
