B&M gave me some great prices today..

I went to a Cigar and Lobster event last night in Lynchburg, VA and at my table was the local tobaconnist from Mr. John's Tobacco.

I got to talking to them and mentioned some of the cigars I'd like to try, but am not willing to pay the $25 - $35 price tag associated with them.

Mainly the Opus X and the AF Anejo. She invited me to come out to the store the next morning before we headed home and wow am I glad I did..

Here is what I got (Price on the left is what I paid -- the actual sticker price she had on the boxes. In parenthesis is what an online vendor is selling them at -- cigar.com).

Two OpusX Petit Lancero - 6.2 x 39 - $13.95 each ($26.95)
OpusX Perfecxion No. 5 - 4.8 x 40 - $10.95 ($22.95)

I also got two AF Anejo "Shark" No. 77 for $12.95 each ($34.95)

I asked why the prices were so low and was told "Those are the actual prices.. but since they are hard to find, everyone jacks up the prices.."

Moral of the story... Support your local B&Ms! (and if you find yourself in Lynchburg, VA.. stop by Mr. Johns on Main St. )

I got an Opus X petite lancero for $11 last June. That seemed reasonable to me, but when I look for them online they and that size usually go for at least over $25.

What a great deal. I often weigh the price with the ability to go to a cigar shop and spend some time therefore I agree to pay a bit of a premium to a B&M with a little better service/amenities. My closest provider is low on service and amenities, therefore I don't cut him much slack. The other store I use has a great place to smoke, coffee and free internet so I am always willing to pay a "bit" of a premium there.

My two cents...

Man thats great. I was just looking at the Opus X the other day and i will probably never smoke one unless I am gifted/bombed one or find a price like you paid. Way to damn expensive.
