Ashton event tonight At Tinder box

I just stopped to get some glycol for the humidors and walked into An Ashton event in Tinder Box. What A great time. I picked up some rare Arturo Fuentes, Opus-X's, A variety of Aston's and someone slipped me A Juan Lopez. What A great time. We had chocolate, Pecans and some green label Johnny Walker. What A great bunch of guys. They even let me show some of my Humidors too. The Ashton Rep was A great guy to talk to as well. BTW He knew Lew too. We all shot the shish and just enjoyed ourselves. I don't normally smoke at the B&M but this was just A fantastic time. I came away with 14 cigars which I'll post pics tomorrow. What A great Herf.

On the flip side of things, though, you wonder why you are surprised. It really mystifies me how some retailers "get it" with respect to email and other ways to leverage the web for marketing while others don't do it.

We have a B&M near me, Watch City, that from what I can tell does not have an email list. A couple of times people have posted here that there was an event but the only way Watch City advertised it was through flyers in the store.

On the other hand, we have a liquor store that has an in-store humidor and is making a strong play to increase their presence in the local cigar market. They actively send out weekly emails and updates talking about new arrivals and promotions.

I never miss an event at the liquor store while I have missed several at Watch City. Too bad for them as the liquor store gets my cigar money rather than the cigar store.

Retailers really need to realize that this Internet thing is all about. Those that do, will do well. Those that do not will eventually die off.

Very good Point. My local B&M has events all the time and someone posts here about them, which is great. But other than that I dont get too much info about events.

The B&M that Fitzy and I work at has a mailing list. we send out an email about ever 2 weeks about whats going on at the store, what events are comming up, and some cigar knowledge and random funny bits.

our customers love it and we always get a great turn out at our events!
