i do toast it, its just kind of a neat ritual even if it doesn't enhance the experience.

For me, toasting is part of the ritual of lighting. Wether it is worth it or not, its my ritual.

Is there any other way to light up? I've heard urban legends of other ways but never seen them.

Absolutely. When I was first introduced to cigars the guy who handed me one said to always "warm up" the foot before lighting to get a more even light. Not sure if it makes any difference...but have done it with every cigar since numero uno.

I do toast. It does seem to help a more even burn.

I do. Especially with ligero cigars like Serie V and LFD Double Ligero. The hardy, oily leaves are harder to light so this seems to help.

I only toast the larger ring guages, ie, 52 or so and up. It seems to help get a faster, more even light.
