Do you toasted the foot?
Do you toast the foot of your cigar before lighting it up? I do, not because I think it makes for a better smoke or anything like that. I just enjoy the act of doing it. Getting a good feel and look at the cigar as I roll it around toasting the foot.

Since I began toasting I have noticed the cigar generally burns better and starts off less bitter.

I tried toasting the foot when I first started smoking cigars. After a couple of years, I gave it up as just a hassle. I never saw any benefit to it. But, the foot must be lit completely, all the way around, which may have the same effect. I dunno.

Perhaps it's just that I've gotten used to doing this and it gives no benefit whatsoever, but I light a cigar by toasting the foot and the first puff I always blow through the cigar before inhaling. I think I started doing that some time ago when using matches to light, so I didn't inhale any sulpher smell, but it's caught on with me... <G>

I'm sure it has the same effect Jerry. I started doing because I read that was the way to do it (toasting the foot) but I have become to really enjoy it has part of smoking the cigar. Now I have a soft flame lighter and I'm learning all over again. You would think the flame is not as hot so it would be harder to not mess it up, but its easer to scorch the side with the soft flame. But I think I have it down now and I love it!

I give it a little toast before smoking. Just love the way it smells...

I try, but it depends on the quality of the cigar.

Mets suck:)

I always toast it unless it is a smaller ring gauge. Like if I'm smoking a Padron londres I usually toast it a bit and then just light it up, but anything else always gets toasted.
