Also sorry to see another company go belly up and people lose their jobs, but that is the nature of business. If you don't sell a good product and are competive, you go under. Bought an expensive Colibri pipe lighter several years ago, and it lasted all of six months. So be it.

I'm with most of the others on here. I had one Colibri lighter a dual flame torch, it didn't even make it six months before it fell apart in my hand. I'm now a Xikar guy.

The good thing about a down economy like this is only the best companies will survive.

Even the new one's aren't that great, the chrome chipped off and it doesn't fill very well.... can't say I'm surprised.

It's cheaper to have china make your wears but it also makes your product shitty (in general).

I've heard only good about their Firebird line. The regular ones, not so much...

Firebird's were pretty good, same with the Reloads... but I think those were under the firebird name as well?

Wasnt Colibri the Ferrari of lighters, and Prometheus the Lamborghini's? If that makes any sense..

there rep was that they were the best at least that's what I thought..... then I actually bought one. It didn't work, another same thing, a third same thing, and I think a fourth too. They all sucked. In fact they sucked so bad I would pay them not to have bought them. It's sad to see a company go but if it's gotta be one it might as well be Colibri.

Agreed - I love my blazer pocket torch. Picked up a Blazer Micro Torch table lighter, but this is an industrial welder, so one has to be careful, but at least it works

From the most mentioned name in lighters to gone. The economy may really be bad.

I had a Colibri once. I think it was just too much money for the problems I had with it. I would buy a Xikar now. If it goes bad I take it back to Dad's, they give me another one and they send the bad one back to Xikar.
