Camacho vs. Consuegra...

Well, today was just beautiful here and I had a day off, so I lit up a Conny 72 EMS. Ugly stick, but it smoked really well and tasted great. If I was to write a review I'd say it was medium bodied with cedary, spicy, slightly sweet, smooth flavors. So I'm smoking away on this and I remember I just got a box of Camacho Havana Nationales the other day. I decide to smoke 'em side by side to compare. I go upstairs and grab one of the 'Machos and fire it up. It hit me with a burst of harsh, somewhat off-tasting smoke. The Camacho settled down but the flavor was grassy and slightly acrid-tasting. In comparison the Consuegra was smooth and mellow. In a while the Consuegra was nubbed and all I had to smoke was the Camacho and as it went along it got better tasting.

I have to say that I enjoyed the Consuegra more. Weird, huh? Maybe I just like cheap smokes.
Next I'll put a Connie up against one of the Fuente Don Carlos I got for Christmas.

The Consuegra is a surprisingly good smoke...The price just makes it that much sweeter..

Re: Camacho vs. Consuegra...

Just recently got a bundle of those out of the Squid-A-Dor® where they were doing some time. I think the formula for these is now two years aged equals a decent smoking cigar. Still not great but rather good...

I dont think its wierd at all.... the longer I smoke cigars the more I've come to the realization that there are a lot of "inexpensive cigars" that I enjoy. I dont believe that high priced smokes always equate to a great cigar.

The Havana wasn't Camacho's best offering, of all the lines I've smoked, it was the least interesting. The Corojo line , especially the maduro, are much better smokes than the Havanas.

After buying a box of Camacho 1962's last year, I swore off Camacho forever. Any company that will put their name on that piece of **** doesn't deserve any of my hard earned money.

Of course, I may still make an exception for a Coroylar Puro... those were indeed tasty smokes.

Re: Camacho vs. Consuegra...

I picked up a couple of Comachos in some samplers that I had bought a while ago. Both of them were really harsh and potent. I'm a relative newbie but I do enjoy several full strength smokes. These were either dog rockets or simply not to my liking. I'm finished trying to like them. Too many better sticks out there.

Camacho's are a lot stronger cigar than other brands but I have yet to have one that I have not enjoyed. The Havanah line is milder than their other lines but I would recommend the 10th Anniversary Torpedo. It is my favorite smoke.

As always, there's something for everyone's taste. That's what makes this so much fun.
