With good reason. IMHO, yard 'gar at best and in that regard there are better to be had at the price point.

I'm sure that there are others with additional (and probably better) suggestions, but I'm assuming that you saw the Seleccion Privada on CI (don't know that I've seen them elsewhere). Taking a quick look at their $19.99 closeout, they have the La Vieja for that price (albeit only 10 sticks). I haven't tried the particular blend and / or size, but have generally found the line decent for the price. When CI has 'em, you can get the NP (Nestor Plansencia) 2004 robustos for that price (and I think it's a bundle of 25 at that). I think the NP2004s are a bit inconsistent and you may end up tossing every 3rd to 5th one as unsmokable, but I think it's just part of the sacrifice at that price point. I think the batting average gets better if you give them a little humi time. I didn't see any when I just checked.

IMHO, when you move up in price point just a little, say to ~$2 a stick, you can expand your options quite a bit. The Indian Tabac Super Fuertes come to mind. I haven't tried the maduro, but the naturals run ~$2-2.50 retail and I've been fortunate enough to find them online (Famous) AND on sale, close to ~$1.

I've begun to rethink myself on the concept of "everyday" smokes lately. At one point, I thought I'd probably smoke more often than I do. Accordingly, I picked up on some less expensive sticks. Now I find myself smoking fewer cigars than I thought I would. Accordingly, I can usually go a little higher in price point. I've still got some "budget" smokes lying around that I may never get back to or at least not for some time.

I thought to offer to send you a sample on the Selecion, but frankly the cigar just isn't worth the postage. However, I could justify the freight of sending you a sampler of the budget stuff. If you're interested, PM me an addy.
