Flavors married...

I have a 300 count humidor with around 200 odd cigars (all cubans) for the past one year. I have kept them well humidified and well maintained. I have separated the smokes brand wise as much as possible over the 7 drawers of my humidor. All the sticks are loose and not in their original boxes. However, over the last 2 months, I am finding all my smokes to taste very very similar.
I am not taking about similarities between a MC edmundo and a No. 2, but even my Partagas Shorts taste similar to my RASS!!!

How can avoid this and more importantly how can bring back the individuality to my smokes?

I would appreciate all your feedback and assistance.

Regards

I keep a lot of singles together and have never had a problem with anything like that. But would like to hear what others have to say.

I'm curious too. I must have 400 singles co-mingling. All are great cigars so I can't see going to wrong. I hope they all end up tasting like my Opus-X's

You wish Bill! The only thing I would recommend is keep your maduros separate.

Storing your cigars together won't make a difference unless you're talking decades, and even after that time I don't think it would make a noticeable difference except for those with a very tuned palate. If you are 100% positive that your cigars are authentic, then maybe your tastebuds are a bit frazzled. It's not uncommon. Try taking a break from cigars for a week or two and when you revisit, slow down your smoking pace a little.

I agree with you that it should take decades for something like this to happen, but the fact that it has happened is what puzzles me.

I have been smoking no more than 2 cigars a week recently, compared to 7-8 when I first started a year ago. And at that time I could differentiate between the flavors easily. Maybe my taste buds really have gone for a toss, but I doubt to such an extent that my PSD4 and Boli's taste the same, they still taste good mind you, but very very similar!

And I am certain the cigars are genuine as all are bought from LCDH's.

I've never seen this happen in real life before. Squid® doesn't joke! I mean I'm giving an honest answer. Most likely the change is with your perception rather than the cigars. Backing me up would be the billions and billions of remove-the-labels and stump-the-experts trials where taste perceptions of experts and afficianados were proved wrong time and time again. If I have time before smoking, I like to brush my teeth, wait fifteen minutes and then drink a cup of not-very-strong coffee. Clears up and re-sets the taste experience pretty well for me. Naturally your mileage may vary...

Re: Flavors married...

I haven't had a problem of normal cigars intertwining with their flavors. I am also curious as to what others have to say about their experiences.

Matter of fact I have had strong maduros next to mild connecticut wrapped cigars (and I mean squeezed right together) for a long time with no intermixing. It might matter with freshly rolled cigars but I don't think it does with stuff we usually get at retail. <G>

I would agree with you on this because the leaf is still wet if they are fresh rolled and I would separate them and let them dry for at least a few weeks before intermixing them.
