Close call with Ringo Cigar Star

I recently did some trading with a distant BOTL. 5er for 5er. So the package comes and I put the sealed bag in my humi. I figured, due to the cold weather I would let them rest for a couple of days. I finally pulled one out to smoke. A Gurkha 12 year aged. I pulled off the cedar and immediately notice holes in the cigar. Went to a wooden table and in the light, this is what I saw.

The object in the hole. You guessed it. Ringo Star the cigar Beatle, I mean beetle.

Sorry about the quality of the shot, but it was a camera phone.
I guess I was lucky since he was dead. I imagine that, since it came from Belgium, the cold weather killed it. Close one. The other sticks were ok and I only hope that my friend doesn't have more of them...

How lucky am I! Anyway hope life brings you good trading and no musical bugs. LMAO.

You know it... The box it was resting in was next to a box containing Padron 80ths, GOFs, PAM64s and 26s, BTLs, and a bunch of rare ISOMs. Well, you get the idea. Again. How lucky am I!

Wow. I hope this is an isolated incident.

If I had to guess I'd say it's actually been dead for several years. The beetles only live a few days after metamorphosis, during which time they attempt to mate, and then lay eggs before dying. Adult beetles do not eat.
