Another thing I do is take a cue from the DogWatch boys. If they like it, and reviewers like it, I will buy a fiver to see what the excitement is all albout.

Re: The dilemma

I will usually buy a 5er if I'm shopping online. If it's something I'm really not sure about I'll go to a B&M and pick one up before I splurge on a 5er.

Re: The dilemma

When I started buying online, I would never order a cigar that I had not tried at least one of. (too many lincoln logs out there)

Re: The dilemma

I always buy at least two sticks of something new, especially if I don't have a freind's reccommnedation on it. Just in case on has a fluke construction issue, I have a backup to try.

And sometimes after smoking one, I realize I should be smoking it iat a different time of day. I try to smoke from mildest to strongest over the course of a day. So I can then smoke the second one with a little more feel for its strength and flavor profile.

If after two sticks I think it is a good smoke, I will try another vitola in the same line to see if I like it any better. To me trying new cigars is just as much fun as pulling out an old favorite.
