Bobalu - Austin, TX

Cool. Have fun parking down there. Not a lot of parking down in that area. The free parking areas are a gathering ground for some of the homeless and will ask for money to watch over your car.

I used to live in central Texas (stationed at Fort Hood 2006-2008 ), and visited Bobalu a few times. They have a wide variety of cigars to choose from, something to suit most tastes.


I never had any trouble parking there as long as you are willing to walk a few blocks. Don't try to park on 6th, most of it is blocked off by the cops and is vehicle free in the evening. Park a couple of blocks away (pay-for-use parking lots are all over). Lots of great bars/clubs along 6th and in the area, but note that there is a city ordnance or something similar that bans indoor smoking. Some places have smoking areas on the premises (outdoor, rooftop or patio).

Can't remember if you can light up in Bobalu...I believe the few times I was there you still could.

You can light up in Bobalu and Casino El Camino. Nothing better then getting a cigar at Bobalu then heading over to Casino for a very good burger and smoke.

And yes, parking really depends on when you get there. They only block 6th off on Friday and Saturday I think, so it's not an every day of the week thing. I was happy to see they made the parking that is right under I-35 between 6th and 7th free again. Before this trip it cost like $8 to park there when it used to always be free.

I was there last year in August and you could still light up inside. You can order there stuff on-line as well. I reccomend trying a sampler.
