Stocking UP....and the SCHIP tax...

I know this has been posted before.... but was wondering..... now with SCHIP a month away what others were doing.

Anyone else really stocking UP?? I have gone nuts lately, with a Famous, CI or Mikes order coming in every five or six days. For the first time ever I even bought a full box of 1964 Anni's and some 1926's!! A box of EACH!!

I like to smoke yard-gars in the summer and have stocked up on those at well. Cheapies in bundles to La Vieja Habano in boxes. OK paper boxes...but still a box.

Secondly.....anyone else surprised there are not any big SCHIP sales?? I mean REAL sales not the JR's BS sales where half the stuff is out of stock.
I really thought we would see some big sales.

Re: Stocking UP....and the SCHIP tax...

I haven't been buying many cigars subject to the tax lately, to be honest, so no. No stocking up for me.

I have been kind of broke but have been doing a lot of recording sessions lately. I'm about to take that money and go talk to the devil. We'll see how much I can get with that money.

Re: Stocking UP....and the SCHIP tax...

I've been out of control lately I think I've bought about 200 + sticks in the last two months.
It's not cuz of the SCHIP I think I might be a little crazy
I'm just glad I don't use my credit card and my wife doesn't care.

Re: Stocking UP....and the SCHIP tax...

word from a very trusted retailer yesterday..

Quote:
I have been quizzing my sales reps about their respective companys' plans as far as price increases go for the April 1st SCHIP tax increase.

Most have said they haven't heard. That's a problem, because all the retailers are asking them and their bosses aren't showing them the love by cluing them in on future plans. That's bad management.

However, I have heard some VERY LOOSE TALK that a few of the big boys may have small increases, if any at all. It seems that some of the price increases of the past few years MIGHT have been in anticipation of SCHIP (cause everyone knew it was coming... we just didn't know how big it would be). So future increases directly due to SCHIP might not be as much as we have been worried about.

This is just speculation on a few people's part and we have not heard anything firm from ANY of the manufacturers regarding price increases. However, I would not be suprised if increases from some of the major players are smaller than we have been led to believe. We can always hope!!

Re: Stocking UP....and the SCHIP tax...

Been stocking up! Probably have bought 6 boxes in the last month. A lot of devil site buys also. I've been at the bottom of the slope for a while, so why not! Got a couple more 5-packs being shipped today. The cabinet is almost full, but can hold a few more.

Re: Stocking UP....and the SCHIP tax...

Kinda, but not really a whole lot. I did add about 65 cigars recently. 15 were because of a great deal on CI and the others were to stock up. I had gotten down to 10 RP The Edge so I bought ten more to make an even 20 box count, and I also purchased 30 ITC Super Fuerte's.

I really wanted to add another box of Padron 4000's but seeing as I still have 20 in my humi and going that route would've bumped my total cigar purchases past $200 I figured I'd hold off rather than go spend crazy. I did want to get three 4 packs of Padron 2000's but they seem sold out everywhere.

Re: Stocking UP....and the SCHIP tax...

I have been adding to my stockpile. Up to about 900 sticks right now. I doubt I will buy much more. At the rate I smoke, I have enough for about 2 years. LOL

I've been stocking up on "Yard gars" and "Garage smokes". Figure the tax will bother my budget more on those.

Yes, I’m stocking up because of SCHIP, I’m trying to take advantage of all 1st time buyer deals and magazine deals I can find.

Re: Stocking UP....and the SCHIP tax...

I've been slowly stocking up. We've been paying through the Ying Yang in Canada for years now so all of my nc purchases are online or through good s/botl.

Yes, I've added a few boxes and I usually don't buy many boxes.
