I am enjoying a My Father," considered to be the most prestigious blend released by El Rey de los Habanos, My Father is another flavorful concoction assembled by the hands of Don Pepin Garcia."
Quote from Cigar.com. It is a wonderful stick. I highly recommend.

Re: You recommend it, I try it

Good post,,,I come on here to see what others like or dislike based on their history of the type of cigars they like in the first place. What I don't like is when somebody bashes a cigar based on nothing but their own taste. Tell me what your history is,,,what you like in a cigar,,the taste or complexity,,,flavor profile,,,etc. Just saying that you don't like a particular cigar when you give nothing in return doesn't help me. I like a complex cigar,,,I enjoy the different tastes esp. wood, chocolate, cream or earth tastes. Knowing this brief history about what a person likes then you know going forward how you might feel about their rendering of a specific cigar profile.

Don't get me wrong,,,I like to read reviews on cigars but it would be really nice when you do a review to let the others know what you like in a cigar first,,,then we can get a better idea on what you noticed that you didn't like in a cigar review.

Re: You recommend it, I try it

Omar Ortez Originals.

They've been around a few years, so not exactly "up and coming" but the word seems to be getting out about these nic puros.

Excellent cigar. When you first light one, it hits you with pepper spice, like a Don Pepin. Then, once the shock subsides, it mellows into a really flavorful smoke that reminds me of a Padron 2000, only with a looser draw and perhaps a little rougher around the edges, if you know what I mean.

But when you're finished, you know you've smoked a cigar.

Also, the GH#5 is very, very good. Just finished one tonight.

I hear people say all the time that Don Pepin blended the "My Father" but he did not. His son Jamie blended the cigar for his dad.

I enjoy old gym socks in a maduro wrapper.

No but seriously check out if they have a house blend. I'm a big fan of house blends, just something about that little shop being the only place.

Good call on the background. I would have say that even though I have been smoking cigars for 7 years. I still have a ton to learn about my own palette.

Some of my favorite cigars right now include Pepin's Cubao, Rocky's vintage '90, Romeo Y Julietta Reserve Maduro, and the Oliva V series. Another that is growing on me is the St. Martin, it is a Peruvian Puros. I just happy to be lucky enough to have a store relatively close that carries it. From my understanding the distribution is still growing.

Maduro's tend to be my go to cigars. I don't mind a connecticut or a little pepper in a cigar from time to time, but the long finish on a peppery cigar can be very annoying for me so it has to be really good.

Re: You recommend it, I try it

Belive it or not, I've really been enjoying the La Carolina blend from Cuban Crafters (Capitan vitola). They are produced in small batches and come in neat presentations.

The flavor profile is what surprised me though. I wasn't expecting much past a basic tobacco flavor, but these became complex with white peper, cocoa, and ceder. The flavors kept taking turns in the forfront of the cigar profile and I looked forward to "what was next" throughout the entire stick.

I'm not affiliated with CC, and wasn't impressed with thier Don Kiki lines at all, but I'd hand these out with no worries to my friends.

Re: You recommend it, I try it

Thanks for the update and I look forward to seeing more reviews from you,,,your palette is similar to my own and that is why I asked you what kind of cigars you like. I have a tendancy to watch and read reviews from others with similar tastes and what they like. It is interesting to sift through the information you bring to your reviews because it pretty much parallels my own. Thanks again on your reviews and keep them coming.

The Esencia is a pretty tasty smoke. You should smoke one of those in the office.
