You recommend it, I try it

Hey everyone,

I just got back from my lunch break, which I took at a local cigar shop, and am having a pretty good cigar that I hadn't tried yet [Kristoff Maduro].

Anyway, it dawned on me that I ask my retail friends and my XIKAR co-workers for recommendations all the time, but I have thousands of you guys at my finger tips, and have never asked.

So... Do you guys have any up and coming (not the big hitters) cigars out there that I should try?

Gran Habano #5. I got a box of these after reading some reviews here. Supposedly a great stick for the money.

Try a Montecristo classic. Not up and coming but it seems to me that people often over look a lot of the old Cuban brand Dominican made cigars when there are a lot of good ones out there.

If you can find one somewhere, try the Gurkaha Park Ave's. Those look kind of good. Let me know how they are. Also try a Padron 1964 Diplomatico. Its a damn good $12 cigar!

Kristoff isn't really up coming since I believe it has gone national within the last year and has been around for around 1 1/2 to 2 years already. Or maybe that IS up and coming who knows. Kristoff is a Xikar sales rep.'s brand, funny you should work for Xikar and be smoking one...anyhoo, I seem to have this problem too-- every 'new' smoke I try is an offshoot or side project of someone else. Of course, this time of year, it's all leading up to the RTDA show which of course explodes with new stuff.

Ha, that is funny stuff . I guess being that we have our own cigars here I shouldn't be talking about the "competition". Rookie mistake. I am really liking the recs guys. I may have to pick some of these up this week seeing as though I plan to stick to my post lunch smoking ritual.

Re: You recommend it, I try it

Any of the Cubao sticks....very complex full bodied smokes. My new favorite is the lancero #3....of course this is yet another awesome Pepin blend.

Re: You recommend it, I try it

I recently tried the Olivia Series 'G' natural. One of the better smokes I have had in the past few months. I got one more left in the Humi and it's getting smoked tonight.

I'd also recommend the Ambos Mundos by Pete Johnson--It's a very nice smoke for $5.
