Re: Anyone else here turn into a box pressed nut?
Technically, aren't all 'gars "pressed" in a mold? Either a round mold, or a flattened "box" mold. Therefore the shape should not have any effect on draw or burn, supposedly.

Re: Anyone else here turn into a box pressed nut?
to me a box pressed cigar tends to be a tight draw (those box pressed by actually being pressed in the box like a real box press) so i tend to roll them out for a better draw. Now cigars that are Crisp cornered square cigars aren't my cup o tea thats all Just like nubs aren't my cup o tea either. Maybe i am old school but the majority of the cigars i smoke are good old classic vitolas with a few figurado exceptions like perfectos and the wildest i go for are the bowling pin cigars like the El Joko Perfecto and the Punch Champion. otherwise like i aid the only box pressed cigars i smoke are box pressed by being put in a box slightly too small for the cigars for a natural box pres and these do feel good in the hand. Re: Anyone else here turn into a box pressed nut?
I've only tried a few box pressed cigars, I just don't like them all that much. They just don't feel right. I do, however, really enjoy the cigars that have only a slight box press. Those seem to give me a better feel for some reason.

Re: Anyone else here turn into a box pressed nut?
Wow, no one here that actually prefers box pressed?? That's surprising. As for the earlier comment about draw, I'm suprised you've found box pressed to be generally tight. I've found quite the opposite, they tend to have the perfect draw. If anything they can be a bit loose. Don't get me wrong guys, I love the typical round shape. I've just been finding a much better draw with box pressed and I think they feel better to hold. I haven't really found any burn problems, at least none that appear more often than on any regular round cigar.

Re: Anyone else here turn into a box pressed nut?
There is a real difference between "box pressed" cigars. Some look they are pinched and squared off. Some are less radical and some have a semi-boxed press look with rounded corners. The one with rounded corners has a decent feel in hand as well as the advantage from the compression you get with a box pressed construction. For me what is the cigar that is boxed pressed? If i didn't like the stick in a traditional roll the box pressed version doesn't change that fact.

Re: Anyone else here turn into a box pressed nut?
I don't like box-pressed habanos, but it's hard to avoid in dress boxes. I've hard more draw issues with these than others.
NC box-pressed cigars I've had good experiences with. I do like the shape. FYI to the OP, I don't believe the Padron 80th is a box-press unlike the rest of the Anniversary Line-up. I believe the 80th is a straight up Perfecto.

Re: Anyone else here turn into a box pressed nut?
The only box pressed cigars I specifically seek out are the Padron Anniversary series, both 64 and 26. I don't think its just the box press that attracts me, but hey, don't argue with good results, right?

Box pressed doesn't bother me. If it tastes good, smells good, smokes good then I like it!

Re: Anyone else here turn into a box pressed nut?
I'm not sure if I would say i prefer box pressed sticks but I do have more than a few in the humidor. The Oliva Series G Maduro torpedo and RP Decade torpedo are on my regular go to list. I like Torpedos but these are on my short list because they are both great smokes. Being torpedos and box pressed are just part of the package.
