I ususally buy boxes in the $60-$80 range. The $3-$4 a stick range is my confort zone for my routine smoke. I only smoke maybe 4 times a week in the spring/summer/fall and once a week in the winter. |

As far as boxes. 95% of all my sticks come from a box. One benefit of being a Canadian in Winnipeg is most of us travel in the winter. Every winter I have at least one friend that travels to Cuba and brings me back a couple of boxes. I just got my 2 boxes of Montecristo #4. My favorite cigar!!! ![]() |

Re: Hello! And a couple interesting questions
I'm in the same boat as Tom T. I smoked drugstore cigars untill a couple of years ago. Now I smoke a couple of handmades a day. Usually bundle cigars in a range of $30 to $40 a bundle. Occasionally I'll Spring for a 5pack of Don Pepin Blacks. Seldom go over $4 or $5 a stick. Lots of good every day smokes out there for less than $50 a bundle that aren't dog rockets.

1. Whats the most expensive cigar you have purchased?
Padron 80th And was it worth it? Definitely. 2. Roughly on average what do you think you spend on a cigar or box or cigars? $8-$12ea $80-$100 box.

Re: Hello! And a couple interesting questions
Winnipeg sumers are pretty good I must say. Our winters are just too cold for too long. Where do you like to do cigar shopping in winnipeg? Just out of curiosity. I have only ever gone to Shefield & sons.

Re: Hello! And a couple interesting questions
To be honest with you, I have only purchased a handful of cigars locally(Thomas & Hinds). All of my cigars have either come from Cuba or various parts of the world that I have travelled. I have this thing about collecting cigars and bottles of liquor from different countries that I have been to.
I have never been to Shefield & Sons. Never even heard of them. Do you find there prices to be better than Thomas & Hinds? |

Re: Hello! And a couple interesting questions
I have only been to Shefield & Sons so I dont have anything to compare it to. I also get a good portion of my cigars from excurtions I have taken.

Spent $35 on a Cohiba Black Dot about 5 years ago at a B&M downtown. (Didn't know any better back then) Just started buying boxes this year, finally able to start a collection. |

Re: Hello! And a couple interesting questions
Hi Adrian,
Welcome to the forum and this may have been discussed before but if so it was a while back and they are good questions I think. My most exspensive cigar was a Cuban Cohiba Robusto for $70 back in 1998 while at a hotel in Canada. As to being worth it,to me it was,but that's a very personal thing. Many people would be shocked (including my wife) that someone would take $70 and set fire to it.But I have and have smoked quite a few cigars in the $15 to $30 range and all of them have been very enjoyable to me,mainly because I pick special times to smoke such things and probably because it psychs me because I know i'm smoking something worth that much money. But I keep both cheaper cigars as well as exspensive ones and anything from mild to strong in taste. It depends on my mood what I want.If i'm on my way to work and I know I only have time for 1/2 a cigar i'm grabbing a $3 stick. If its New Years and i'm sucking down a bottle of Remy Martin King Louis XIII i'll probably grab a Partagas Serie D to go with it or some such. I would say my average price per box is around $80-$90 to include the cheaper as well as more exspensive ones. But I rarely buy a box because I like to try different ones too much.I usually buy five packs.

Re: Hello! And a couple interesting questions
My most expensive to date was two Padron 1926 no. 9s I bought a little over a year ago for my birthday. The local B&M charged me $26 each. I smoked one for my 53rd birthday a few days after my purchase and it was great. I smoked the other a couple of weeks ago on my 54th birthday and again it was fantastic. Yes, I would say they were worth the money.
Between my two humidors I have about 100 sticks. I would guess they average value is in the $5/stick range. I watch and buy when one of the online outfits has a good deal on what I like to smoke. I watch for free shipping deals. There are a bunch of really great sticks that can be had in the $3 to $6 or 7 range if you watch for deals. Fathers Day and Christmas are great times to buy with lots of deals to be had. |

Re: Hello! And a couple interesting questions
Most expensive cigar?? GOF by Carlito I bought in a Christmas buy. It was so good, I always buy one, and smoke the other one on my birthday.
I have not bought a box yet, but I try to spend as little as possible (I am cheap), but do apreciate you need to spend at least 5 bucks to get quality. There are cheaper cigars out there, and if you are willing to put up with variations in quality, yyou will do just fine.

Re: Hello! And a couple interesting questions
Most expensive so far...Padron 1926 (not 80th) at 18 bucks, I think it was worth it, but I was inexperienced then and the nicotine kicked my ass.
![]() Boxes, what boxes? I buy bundles usually, between 25 and 35 bucks (Flor de Oliva Gold are the go-to).
