Cigars in Tampa

Hey everyone,

I'm in Tampa for the next two days and I know that there are some great places for hand made cigars here. In fact, I just smoked a great cigar from a place in St. Pete's Beach called "The Latin Quarter House of Cigars." I am interested in finding some other places with good handmade cigars in the area. Supposedly there are good places in Ybor City, where I will be tomorrow. Any suggestions?

What I'm looking for is a few excellent singles, and then a box or two of inexpensive, but still good quality hand rolled.

If you have time you also might want to visit Tampa Humidors on Busch Blvd. They have a great store and lounge where you can have a great smoke and shop around for some great things,,,like a humidor etc.

Another suggestion for Tampa Humidor. Great place. They have lots of places selling sticks in Ybor, but the prices are steep and it's really not my cup of tea there!

Cigar Castle is anther place, it's about 10 minutes from Tampa Humidor.....can't remember the address, but if you google it........ Also a real nice place to sit and a nice selection in their humidor.......oh, and FREE BEER.

Cigar Castle is on the corner of 56th Street and Fowler Ave in Tampa. You can take I-75 North from Ybor/Downtown Tampa to Fowler Ave west and then make a right of 56th Street to get there. Or if you visit Tampa Humidor, make a left our of their parking lot onto Busch Blvd and take that to 56th Street and make a left, cross over Fowler and you are there.

I live right by the place, always busy, and I think I saw a sign that they are having an event this or next week for La Flor Dominica.

You won't have any problem finding a few places in Ybor. I remember passing several factories while just strolling around. Just walk up and down Angel Oliva Sr. St.

If you want to travel a short distance, you will find a visit to MJM Cigars in Palm Harbor greatly worthwhile. Mike, the owner, has one of the widest selections of boutique brands on Florida's west coast.
As for Ybor City, be sure to get off 7th and visit Tampa Sweethearts, the retail shop operated by Arturo Fuente.

Re: Cigars in Tampa

Hey all,

Thanks for your suggestions!

I figured I would post to let you all know how I made out...

My first stop was Tampa Sweethearts. There I got a 25 pack of the Tampa Sweethearts no. 24. I also picked up a Hemingway Masterpiece Maduro for less than $15! A good find indeed.

Next I went to La Herencia Cubana where I got some Robustos

Finally, I stopped at Don Capitano where I picked up a couple other local sticks (sorry, the names escape me) as well as a Montecristo White Label (I couldn't help myself as I love this brand).

Tomorrow I am going to go back to The Latin Quarter House of Cigars and pick up a few more there.

Quick question: I will be going home on Thursday- as I don't have a travel humidor what do you guys think about just leaving the cigars in zip lock bags? I believe that the humidity in Florida right now is ok for the short time. If its not does anyone have a suggestion?
