No axe to grind here, honest question.

Does anyone else seem to have a problem with Thompson's? It seems to take an unusually long time to ship and they pester the heck out of me.

Re: Having a problem with Thompson's

Yeah I hate that...Thats why I never buy from them anymore. I bought a Mother of All Humidors from them once.. Took them over a month to ship it. Meanwhile before they shipped it they called like 4 times trying to sell me cigars.. never took no for an answer and I had to hang up on them every time... Even after I told them they were wasting my cellphone minutes

I've never ordered from Thompsons, but yestersday I received my first email from them. I guess it could be worse.....like them calling me. At least with email I can opt out (I hope).

Good to know. I had a similar experience when they wanted me to join their club. Wouldn't take no for an answer until I threatened to never order from them again.

In the meantime, I vowed to "take a break" from ordering from them... I recently made a purchase. They've confirmed it shipped but can't provide a tracking number. It just frustrates me. I suppose I should have known better from my first experience with them.

Re: Having a problem with Thompson's

Yeah same exact thing with me bro.. stupid "club" bs. I didnt want to join it, even though they swore it was "free"... I probably wont ever order from them again because of it, there are too many other ethical companies out there that deserve my business and boy do I love to spend money on cigars

Re: Having a problem with Thompson's

Purchased from Thompson quite abit several years back, then it seemed there were constant problems with the order and shipping. Their initial response was it was due to Ca. recent tobacco sales policy, but then again, no problems with other supplier's. Anyhow, reduced stress factor 10 fold by eliminating them as a source. Must give them credit, understand Thompson's has a long history of supporting the Troups with a supply of cigars.

Re: Having a problem with Thompson's

a few years ago I purchased some cheap ToroToro churchills from Thompson cause thats where my father in law got all his smokes. Total pain ordering on the phone. Kept getting asked to try this or that. Then it took forever to get here. To top it off the cigars just tasted like bluegrass rolled together with dog poop! Please dont ask how I know what that tastes like. 3 years in the humi dint help those dog rockets either! Tried one the other day and still nasty!

Never ordered from them and never will. I've never talked to anyone who had a good experience with them, especially with their humidors.

Check around the forums. You'll see many people avoid Thompson's just for that reason, and more I'm sure.

Re: Having a problem with Thompson's

I find that not only do they take forever to ship their stuff, call you nonstop and try and push their crappy Thompson brand cigars on you they do not ship their cigars well, cigars should be babied through the shipping process in order to make sure that they are in premium quality when they arrive. I definitely would not recommend them to anyone!

Re: Having a problem with Thompson's

My first cigar order was from Thompson. 150 cigars for $95.oo..Arrived in two days. Of course the cigars were mostly crap but I got what I paid for. They did call me once for the club and I, being a newb, joined...Received my club order the following month(21 gun salute). They've nver called me since....I decided recently to cancel the club membership and the young lady I spoke with didn't try to talk me out of it...Membership cancelled...No problems...I've since found other retailers that have better prices, so I buy from them, but I wouldn't rule out Thompson's if they have something I want.

Re: Having a problem with Thompson's

I got my web site "reactivation" package from them today (it's been a great cigar day). My first online cigar order from anyone. In case you don't know, the deal was five cigars plus a cigar case for $25. The package came in 5 days; timely. It was well packaged but no humi packs that I read about. No problem cause it only took 5 days, I guess.

The cigars all look good. I'm smoking one now... a Padron 1000. A very tight draw, and I probably wouldn't buy this cigar again, but that's not Thompson's fault. I mainly bought this deal to try cigars I've never smoked.

The cigar case is a nice piece of work. Leather outside, cedar inside. It looks and feels like it will last a lifetime.

I also bought a $15 cutter that is a big improvement on my cheapo ass cutter. It's not an Xikar (nice... I tried one off those today in a B&M and want one) but you get what you pay for.

They may have called me; I don't know because I have a program on my cell that dumps unknown callers.

I've gotta make a decision about my next *big* order. So far, I haven't ruled Thompson's out, but Famous Smoke, Cigar.com, Serious Cigars and CI (those cutters dammit) all look good.
