What cigars do your "Significant Other" love the smell of?
Interesting post, accept the confusing side-track in the middle...(just skipped that silly part).
My fiance and I both smoke, at home (outside on our patio), and at the local B&M...and we both agree the following 100%: a. the stale smell on our clothes and hair afterward are not enjoyable, so our smoking clothes go in their own hamper and I wear a hat so I don't have to wash my long hair every darn night. Works like a charm. (The other option is just smoke naked, but then we have to move the ashtray and chairs to the back patio...ha!) b. Smoking in the house is not something we want to do. But, since we live in Florida smoking outside is actully better most nights. c. Neither of us enjoy the wafting aroma when only one of us is smoking, regardless of which stick it is. I think it has less to do with scent, than just pure jealousy...;o) |

All I've gotten so far is the "Your stinky" remark.
Her ex was a 3 pack a day cigarette head and she hated it. Its been slow going over the last few weeks, breaking her into the idea of a humidor on the coffee table and the occasional hot boxing of the garage. ![]() I figure she will come around sooner or later. |

Re: What cigars do your wives/GFs love the smell of?
I love to smoke cigars. Smelling somebody else's used cigar smoke, not so much really. It's not necessarily awful unless you're at a herf and there are sixteen cigars going off in a small enclosed space, but it's not usually that pleasant either.
The volatile oils that give cigars their flavor are delicate and tricksy little buggers, and they change swiftly and radically with time and temperature. So the lovely, tasty smoke that hits my mouth and nose from a deep draft on my own cigar is not nearly so nice by the time it is exhaled and wafts its way up into the atmosphere. It may not be actively unpleasant (yet), but it's definitely lost a lot of what makes it tasty. Given a little more time to hang out in the atmosphere or on my clothes and hair, even the finest cigars are no longer very appealing. It's the difference between a freshly pan-seared piece of blackened salmon and a dead fish that's been out in the sun a little too long. The first is delicious, the second is to be avoided whenever possible. Cubans tend to be a bit more mild and pleasant to smell "secondhand". But I've come home from an evening of smoking mostly pre-embargo and well aged Cubans with my clothes and hair smelling not at all nice despite the incredible yumminess of what I'd been enjoying. I'm not sure this is a "girl thing" so much as a cigar connoisseur vs non cigar connoisseur thing, but one thing worth noting is that genetically women are more likely to be "supertasters" than men. Usually (though not always) we inherit more taste buds and a better sense of smell. Which is an advantage when it comes to tasting food, wine and cigars, but not so much when it comes to arguing with your mate about what constitutes an offensive level of smell. She really may experience it more strongly than you do. |

Re: What cigars do your wives/GFs love the smell of?
I am the wife and if I don't like the smell of it I don't smoke it!! On the other hand my husband does not complain about my smoking, he likes the smell of my cigars. He has made odd comments about the good smell of certain cigars but I do not recall what they were.

Re: What cigars do your wives/GFs love the smell of?
Ok, it's odd that I thought of this thread yesterday.
My man and I were each trying a Tatuaje La Riqueza for the first time, and besides being an amazing flavorful smoke, perfectly constructed, and smoked it to the nub burning fingers... The smoke from the foot was heavenly. We both commented on it. Your spouses may enjoy this one...and the good part is there's only one way to test it out...fire one up! Happy testing. |

Re: What cigars do your wives/GFs love the smell of?
For the most part my wife doesn't mind as long as I have a fan going. She has commented fondly on R and J reserva Maduro and oddly enough my monther-in-law even said that a Sancho Panza Extra Fuerte I was smoking one time, smelled "lovely"

Sounds like you and I are thinking along the same lines. My wife will join me about 1/3 of the time. She enjoys all of the Oliva V line and certain RP sticks. She is not into it like I am, but this is not something she is excluded from.

Re: What cigars do your wives/GFs love the smell of?
My wife loves the smell of the cigars I smoke. I've come across a few which just had a foul smell and I cut them out completely as the smell affected the tast to me. She especially loves the way Fuentes, Upman Vintage Cameroons, RyJ's Cedros Deluxes, And Most of the Habanos I smoke.
