opps. B&M has beetles

Went to my local b/m tonight to grab a few sticks for work. I noticed thier hydrometer was reading 50RH.While trying to make my decision of what to buy I looked into a box(can't remember the brand, but were cheapo) and saw that the remaining 4 sticks looked like swiss cheese.....I pointed this out to the girl at the counter. She gave a big sigh, took the box along with a few boxes around it and thanked me...When I checked out she told me that their humidifier died and the owner sent them another that also doesn't work.,She said she's been straying the room with distilled in an attempt to keep the humidity up but she's loosing the battle. She also said the hydrometer wasn't working...I did offer to rescue as many sticks as possible but she declined. It's sad that the owner doesn't seem to be concerned about his stock...maybe he has some beetle insurance....Did pick up a couple Big Butt Don Gordo's to try....no beetles

Was it a walk in humidor? you can get a room humidifier from wally world for like $25-$35 I think.

The girls that work there really seem to care about the cigars and they're pretty knowledable about thier stock. It is a nice sized walk in humi...I can only hope the owner gets his act together and corrects the problem..The only other b/m in my town is in our mall and they store flavored in with the premiums, and they don't know crap about cigars....

Sounds like the owner doesn't give a damn. If he cannot protect his investment, he needs to get out of the business.

It's kinda odd though that they're linking the beetles with low humidity though... usually the eggs don't start hatching until the temp is up there and the humidity is overly high too... either way, the el cheap smokes were infested from the start.
